For those of us with kids, going on a family vacation isn’t a vacation for the parents, but rather a relocation. If  we moms want a vacation, might I suggest… anywhere in the world…alone, with a martini glass, a flask, a good color nail polish, and a xanax, (ha!)

The truth is, even when I am on vacation, shoving all you can eat buffet food into my big mouth, I still want to get my heart rate up and sweat. The reality is I can squeeze an hour tops out of my husband. That being said, I am not paying 20 bucks to use the hotel spa and gym to run on a treadmill for 45 minutes and then have to race my tush back to the room.

hallwayhallway2Soooo… I did this on my trip.

( I dedicate this to my college BFFs, Michele Lipka and Kelli Ryan), where we used to do this in our college dorms after a late night of crazy whatever and pizza at 3:00am.

If you are staying at a hotel with lots of floors this is the ultimate fab work out!

Go to the stairwell, there are usually 2 on each end of the hall way.

Go to the bottom floor and start.

Climb up the first set of stairs and then power walk or jog to the other end of the hallway to the other flight of stairs. Walk up them and exit, power walk or jog to the end of hall and go up that flight of stairs.

Repeat till you make your way to the roof.

When you get to the top, stretch for a minute then start your way back down to the bottom and repeat.

Do this for a half hour no matter if there are 3 floors or 17. You can always take the elevator if you wanna pass out!

When you get to your room, go to the bathroom sink and do 2 sets of ten push ups on your sink!

Throw in some squats as you pick your kids clothes off the floor. (do 2 sets of ten)

Remember to pace yourself and start slow, work your way up to speed!

Note: while jogging or power walking, engage your tummy muscles and you will actually work your core!

Let me know if that works!

Happy vacationing, rather “Happy relocation.”
