Notice I said Momma, not Mom or mommy.  That's because I'm talking about my little Momma.  My Daisy Mae.  I think I talked about her more on here than most anywhere else.  My two year old Pit Bull died last week.  She was our miracle baby.  Hubby found her wandering the streets when she was only about 6 weeks old.  It was the end of January and she was starving and cold.  We brought her home, she had the worst case of worms I'd ever seen in a dog.  Within a week she got very sick.  She would not eat or drink and was throwing up.  We force fed her pedialyte for a week and she somehow pulled through.  Over the next two years we came to realize that she had quite a few birth defects.  She had bad hips, she walked with a limp from the time she was 6 months old.  She never came into heat so apparently there was something wrong there too.  Besides all of that, she was the sweetest dog you've ever met.  She was very well behaved and was great with the boys.  She was the only one of our dogs that didn't have to be kenneled because she only left our porch to use the bathroom or play with the boys.  Well a few weeks ago bike cops started parking in our neighbors driveway to watch for speeders.  We're out in the country so we're not completely fenced in.  The bike cops were driving all of the dogs crazy, including Daisy.  She started wandering of fvery close to the road.  To keep her safe, we put her in the kennel with our other female.  She was in with her sister for about a week when she got bit by a black widow.  We found her too late to do anything about it, she was already gone.  It drives me crazy that we put her in the kennel to be safe and that is where she dies.  We checked on all of the dogs when hubby got home from work at 5 and we found her dead at 7.

I know that she is not in pain anymore and that she is in a better place but it still hurts that we lost her.  She was our first Pit Bull.  Our other female is a Pit Mix but I do not see myself being able to get another Pit for a very long time.  I would always be reminded of her.

Oh, we got rid of the black widow nest and moved the kennel to make sure that our other dog would be safe.
