we all teach our kids to say thank you when someone does something for them weather its giving them food or helping them cross a street its just part of a parents job to teach a child to say thank you to others.

so what happens when we grow up and the times when we really need someone to come help us those terrible but few times when we have to rely on our city's civil servants. everyone has her the stories or racial profiling or rude arrogant paramedics or a clueless fireman. those are true i will not deny it how ever the majority of the time these people are skilled intelligent and caring. those positive stories happen every day and we never hear about them unless they happen to someone we know personally. why is it that once these people have save the life of our children or ourselves we just let them go we may think of them once in a while but not often. why does no one ever thank these people these people have life's. they may be going through a messy divorce a nasty custody battle have recently lots someone they love, they put all that on hold to take care of the problems of others. yet these people almost never hear the word thank you the hear pig, racist, and whole other slew of words but not thank you.

there is also another person in this that often gets over looked the 911 call taker and dispatcher they handle 1000s of calls everyday and yet give each one the same time respect and care. i know this someone in my family is a 911 dispatcher he's helped talk moms through labor till medics arrive, he's talked to parents after they have found an infant dead from sids, he's talked to people who are trying to end their own life. he does all this and still not one thank you has ever come in they have board in the office to hold notes and memos and if a thank you letter ever did come in i'm sure it would go there

so what so i want people to do to say thank you not just quickly or superficially but take 10 minuets out of your day and write a letter something short saying thank you to one civil servant who helped you if you don't know the name of the person just send the note to the depart the fire house police station or 911 call center. they will post it up for everyone to see then you have boosted the morale of so many people with just one letter if we all just did that once it would make so much a difference please remember to say thank you
