We took ds to the dr. because he is sooooo skinny. So they did blood tests. He has HIGH Cholesterol and LOW iron. WHAT IN THE WORLD!! So now our entire house has to change their diet. I'm not complaining about that so much as I am completely OVERWHELMED, with the diet we have to have. I don't know HOW to do this. So, OK, just had to write this out.

The thing that gets me is I can now only cook with Olive Oil. No butter, no margarine, no eggs, no whole milk, limited cheese, aaaah I don't even remember all the rest, I have a whole list of things that have to be avoided and things he needs to eat. I haven't even figured out how to begin. BUT, my mom lives with us and used to have high cholesterol so she is making a menu and helping us out, thank goodness, because I am at a complete loss.
My mom could relate to how you feel. Dad had high cholesterol years ago and we all had to eat differenty. Now he has a whole page full of things he has to avoid cuz of gall stones. Its called a low ocalate plan. Good luck girl! Tell everyone I said hi!

Lowering all your cholestrol levels is not a bad thing for the whole family. As an adult I have high cholestrol and take Lipitor that lowers it without diet restrictions. I don't know if children or what age someone can take cholestrol lowering medications but if he is young, he should learn how to eat correctly for his system anyway. Good luck trying out new recipies!
