ALG's Journal

You will be assimilated...

Reason #1:  Stopped using pantyliners because was tired of sitting on plastic.
Reason #2:  Tired of having swamp crotch and soggy underwear.
Reason #3:  Had scraps left over from crazy project #1, plus some nice cheaply priced raw silk
Reason #4:  I'm crazy :)

Materials:    Flannel scrap, raw silk, snaps  (price for ten liners...maybe $3-5...I haven't calculated yet)

Construction:   Flannel bottom, flannel middle, top layer raw silk, snapped tabs made of flannel scrap.  Turned and top stitched.

Pictures:

The materials:    Raw silk on left.

The finished project:     Raw silk top, flannel bottom.

Folded and snapped for storage:   Not pretty by any means but workable.

One more pic:   Folded, open, and snapped for use (top and bottom shown)

Stay tuned for the next Crazy Crafing Pregnant Woman Project

They do look great! I have heard that you're only supposed to use cotton against your skin; how is the silk for breathability?

Oh, yeah!  I wanted to ask you if you have a snap press or if you used the bangable ones, lol.  That's one of the things stopping me from making my own mama cloths because I don't care for velcro.

I have the bangable.  It's okay, gets the job done.   Didn't take long to get the hang of it.     But obviously a snap press would be easier.     I used to  bang in grommets by hand before I got a cropadial (I got one when I made fans for my wedding, I was NOT going to bang in 75 grommets!).  I've also sewn grommet holes by hand, so really it wasn't that much of a pain in my perspective.    I even put one on wrong, pulled it off, unbent it with strong tweezers and reset it.  Waste not :)

AAAGH!  Duuuude.  I could have used my cropadile to set the darn snaps!  What a noodle I am!

I never would have thought to make my own. I gave up using them years ago... how clever. But what about washing them? Or do you make more?
