Hello all,
My sister just had a baby 2 days ago. The pregnancy and labor were both normal. She didn't have any swelling or water retention during her pregnancy, but today her legs and feet are very swollen. You can press on them and your finger marks will stay indented for a good 30 seconds to 1 minute. Does anyone know what could be causing this or what can be done to prevent it from getting worse? Has this happened to any of you? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much!
Comments:
If in doubt take her to the doctor. Or at least call her doctor to make sure she is ok.
Did she have IV fluids during her labor? This could cause the edema your talking about now. It should subside soon, if not let her doctor know.

I'm not sure why it would start after giving birth, but I do know your hormones do crazy things to you during that time. I had swelling towards the end of my pregnancy, and it was worse the first few days after giving birth. My doctor told me to just give it time and within a week, it was getting better. Hope it gets better for her soon!
