giving God the glory

I think the last time (and only time) I've ever been actually ticketed for speeding was about 15 years ago.  My friend and I were driving in Ontario, Ohio and we were behind a car with two guys in it.  They were going 55 in a 35, and I just kind of naturally kept up with them.  The police caught me, pulled me over, and the guys in the car in front of us pulled over as well.  The police officer waved the guys on (even though they were speeding like me) and gave me a ticket!  No warning, nothing!  My first, and last, ticket.

However, I have been pulled over twice since then.  The first one was early April 2000.  I was about 1 week from the due date of my first baby, Adam, when I developed a serious allergy attack and started sneezing without being able to stop.  I ran a red light in a business district on a Saturday morning and got pulled over.  The policeman saw my huge belly, my red nose, teary eyes, and gave me a kleenex and let me go.

The second time was last year.  I was late for an appointment and my Toyota Sienna minivan was going 80 in a 55 on a country road.  The Sheriff's deputy that pulled me over, asked me where I was going.  He took my license and registration and went to his cruiser.  He came back and said, "Well Mrs. Kramer, you have an excellent driving record, so I'll give you two options.  You can take the ticket or you can listen to the lecture."  Without being able to stop my mouth, I reply "Depends.  How long IS the lecture?"  Anyway, he gave me about a 30 second lecture on driving fast on country roads and let me off with a warning.  My husband was astonished!  So was the friend who was at my house babysitting my kids!  She apparently got stopped the week before doing the same 80 in a 55 on the same road and got a $225 ticket!!
