July 4, 2009 - Max is born at 29 weeks and 6 days weighing only 3 pounds 6 ounces and being 16 inches long.  He is in the NICU being helped to breathe and eat.  He gains weight steadily but always has relapses with his breathing.  He was off his breathing machines for about 1 week then was put back on them at 3.5 weeks.

July 28, 2009 - They decide to run a test for CDH because he has 2 of the signs that have been left unexplained; fast heart rate and trouble breathing.  Earlier they had been contributed to prematurity and since nothing came up on a u/s in pregnancy CDH was ruled out.

July 29, 2009 - Test results are back, positive.  Surgery is booked.

July 31, 2009 - Surgery to put Max's organs in the right place and seal the hernia is successful.  They couldn't seal the hernia completely so instead they used his abdominal wall to act as a "barrier".  He is now protected from light sound and touch as any of those could make his vitals go haywire and kill him.

*  Update for today - he is in stable condition.  We are praying for him to pull through.  He has another surgery (his second) booked for August 7, 2009 and maybe a 3rd for August 14, 2009 (or somewhere around there) if the 2nd doesn't go as planned.  Mommy is doing good but she is pregnant again (oops).  I'm 2 weeks and 1 day and Max is 1 month and some odd days old.

Hey, I've put in a prayer request for Max at my sister's church. Congrads on the new baby, how are you feeling about that? I know how it is to have mixed emotions about an unborn child, so if you just wanna talk PM me...
