My regular day care lady is awesome. We love her. My son really misses going over there since i'm not working anymore actually! It's the 17 year old girl that i have watch him sometimes that is the problem. I used to work with her at my last job, and i like her as a person, but she really frustrated me yesterday when she watched my 2 year old. I will call her and have her watch him when i'm going out at night and my husband isn't home so Wade can go to bed in his own bed and i dont have to worry about picking him up at 10 or 11pm and taking him home. (Because my regular sitter will take him nights too) Well i talked to her last week about watching him last night. She texts me later and asks if it's ok if she watches him at her house. I actually got busy and never did text her back, but it kinda made me mad that she asked because the whole point of her watching him and not my other sitter is so he can be home for bedtime. So then she calls me yesterday afternoon and says "Do you care if i take him to the derby? My family is going and i want to go with them". (She's talking about a demolition derby that is about a half hour away in a different town) I'm thinking "Do you think i'm NUTS?" but i dont say that. I'm really weird about other people driving with my son. Even my mom and sister, which is stupid, but i still worry! So i just tell her, "No, i'd rather he stays home".  THEN she calls me about half hour before she's supposed to be here and asks if i'm taking him to the parade in town. Uhh....well since you are supposed to be here at 6 so i can leave, and the parade is at 6:30...i'm thinking NO. I tell her no, and she says "Well do you care if i take him?" At this point i am getting REALLY frustrated that she keeps asking to take him places. And just before then, my crazy kid decided to take a header off the back steps on his bike and crack his head, then while i wasn't looking help himself to a few extra doses of the Motrin i gave him for the headache i knew he was going to have. So i told her that poison control told me to keep him calm so i didn't want him going anywhere. (Which totally wasn't true, poison control said he'd be fine, that he might just have a belly ache.) Then when she shows up at my house, she has a friend with her! Normally that wouldn't have bothered me, because that girl watches kids in town too, but you dont show up at a babysitting job with another friend without clearing it with the parents first! Sheesh!!

So then when i call her when i was on my way home last night, she tells me that she is switching her mom cars at the moment. I said "Did she come to the house?" she says "No, we're up at the fairgrounds". WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted, the fairgrounds are like, half a mile from my house, just across the highway, but SHE HAS NO CARSEAT!!! I HAVE IT WITH ME!!! So she had taken my kid to the fair and walked around with her little brothers without my permission AFTER i told her i wanted Wade to stay home. Maybe i'm a paranoid, overprotective parent, but I KNOW my kid and i KNOW how hard he can be to keep an eye on in busy places. Like fairs.... I dont feel comfortable with her being responsible for him in that situation, and i CERTAINLY dont feel comfortable with a 17 year old driving my kid around, let alone with NO car seat. I was so pissed at this point, i just came home and gave her some money for watching him and said "Thanks bye!". I didn't say anything about anything because i really didn't want to be as mean as i felt at the time.

But i can tell ya one thing for sure. She WONT be watching my son again! Maybe i am overreacting, but when i go out to dinner with friends, i want a sitter that i dont have to worry about where she is taking my kid!

Oh, and one other thing that ticked me off. I made sure to tell her to keep Wade out of the mud room because my cat and her kitten were in there, and he always wants to play with them, but he's too rough for the brand new baby. Well, since i found the cats food dish in my living room i'm assuming that she didn't do that. I realize that he's very good at being sneaky and getting in there, but if you are being PAID to do something, at least follow the freakin' instructions! GOOD LORD!!!

Ok, rant over! :D

you are not over reacting. not only would she be fired but i would have cut the amount in half and explain that she will no longer be needed.
