Question: I think this woman and her manager should go to jail

Options:

Yes-definitely- someone has to start paying for all the cruelty to animals in pet stores

Yes, I never have seen such blatant cruelty-it's horrifying

No-this is just an extreme pet shop and it should be made to cease and desist from selling rabbits, pay fines-but that is all

No-Are you kidding me? What about abortion? These are rabbits

No- but there should be reform of animal cruelty laws with stricter enforcement or no sales of animals in pet stores

Warning: Disturbing Picture of what a Manager of a Petland in Akron Ohio and an employee did to some bunnies ....

http://blog.peta.org/archives/2009/08/bunnies_drowned.php?c=weekly_enews

Take a look at the comments, please, they tell a great deal about PETA supporters-they also give alittle law info and a follow-up on this article and make the claim that this woman has purportedly been charged with a crime. Take the poll and post a comment if you have the time.////

Drowned rabbits

This photo was taken in the back room of a Petland store in Akron, Ohio, and posted on Facebook by Elizabeth Carlisle, who can be seen grinning as she holds two dead, soaking-wet rabbits by the scruff of the neck—rabbits she just drowned while on Petland's time clock. On Carlisle's Facebook page, she confirmed a friend's guess that she had drowned these two rabbits and wrote, "[T]he manager took the pic for me. [S]he reminded me that there were people outside as [I] was swearing at them to just hurry up and die but then she was so kind as to take this picture."

These horrific deaths followed what was apparently an equally horrifying life for these rabbits. Other comments Carlisle posted made it clear that the rabbits were drowned after sustaining agonizing injuries when they were allowed to "attack and eat each other." The rabbits suffered from "deep wounds all over," "an eye missing," what Petland staff "suspected was a broken jaw," and paralysis from the waist down—injuries that would not have occurred had these animals been provided with proper care and supervision.

Undercover investigations have revealed time and time again that companies that breed and sell animals are concerned about profits, not animals' well-being. We are urging Petland to think long and hard about what this incident makes clear: The company has no business selling any animals.

To prevent future incidents like this one, please, never buy from pet stores and urge Petland at the very least to stop selling rabbits.

I think this is horrible, too.  But, I agree with yovonna.....people today think nothing of a human baby being killed, but get all up in arms over these rabbits.  Don't get me wrong....they SHOULD be upset about the rabbits, but they should be MORTIFIED at abortion.

I agree with RettsMom ^.  I hate to see cruelty to animals, though.  I'm not going to go join PETA or anything, but it still makes my stomach churn.  I wish everyday that I could have my pet rabbit back...he was old and sick and I did the humane thing by him and had him peacefully put down so he wasn't in pain anymore.  Even writing that brought tears to my eyes and put a lump in my throat.  I can't believe someone could be so sick.  I care about people more than animals, but the animals don't deserve it, either.

Have you ever thought that maybe Peta would be more supportive in the area of abortion if all the anti-abortionists supported Peta? Maybe they think that anti-abortionists should care deeply enough to include animals.  I think all Peta people should be anti-abortion too-it just doesn't makes sense for them not to. If you read the comments-you will see how quickly their actions got the law to look into the women involved in this case-what could they do to help stop abortions?  Something to think about Momas-I'm not a complete vegetarian-but I joined Peta anyway-maybe I will be able to stop eating meat somewhere down the road.  I wasn't aware that there was a movement to stop pet stores from selling animals either, were you?  ////
