My husband sent me a link to this article..

Let's put aside the fact that I would never buy such a doll, like I never buy nursing clothes :))) but what a sicko wrote this? What's wrong with a little girl (or a boy for that matter) nursing her dollies just like mommy? Millions of little children do it all over the world and have done so ever since a first doll was created...
And comparing breastfeeding to erectile disfunction??? That's just wrong. With all the talk about breastfeeding and the research about how wonderful it is and benefitial for both the mother and the child and we get THIS when a doll comes out that promotes breastfeeding?
Comments:
I know! don't they ALL do it??
Anyway, this is not the first breastfeeding doll out there, you just have to know where to look :) http://www.waldorfdolls.com/custom_orders.htm or here http://www.whereswaldorf.com/Dolls/Do/minido.html
This news article could have been written by my mother. She was very upset when I was breastfeeding my children and when my 4y/o asked about how the new baby would be born, "Through her vagina like me or her belly like Laura?" My mother told me I was wrong and my little girl would grow up to be a pervert.
One day I put the movie The Little Mermaid on for the girls while I was breastfeding the baby. They sat quietly on the couch breastfeeding their baby while I breastfed my baby. My husband walked in on the scene, shook his head and walked out, but he thought it was cute.
What about the working mother who pumps for her baby and her older child sits down and puts the pump on his/her chest to be like mommy.
You don't need a special doll, especially one with such a gross name, to have your child understand breastfeeding is the natural way to feed a baby. I feel sorry for people who have never had the experience of breastfeeding or sharing it with their family.
BTW, none of my children grew up to be perverts. In fact, my first grandchild who is due in March will be breastfed because my daughter is already reading about how to breastfeed.
ppl are going to think i'm nuts, but my boys bf their "babies" (they have little buddy dolls 'joe' and 'steve' that go everywhere with them). We don't have bottles in our house, and they know there were bf and that AJ is bf, so it's natural in our house.
I don't agree with the name that they gave it.. but the concept is not a new one.
Totally not new LOL :) my son does the same thing and gets so upset when his older sis tells him he can't :)))
I am wondering if there could be another translation, like simply 'eater' or soemthing like that....
My son Scott was nursing Elmo and Pooh in his early years! Absolutely nothing wrong with children practicing being nurturing to their dolls and stuffed animals. What is wrong with people??
While my son doesn't have any dolls (yet), he does "breastfeed" his stuffed elephant. In fact, it's the ONLY thing he does with it! I've even had to "tandem" nurse DS and that blue elephant on more than on occasion.
I agree on the name, though. "Baby Glutton" just isn't cool. Especially when you consider that most breastfed babies don't over eat. Something is lost in translation there. Not that it will really matter - I don't think they'd do well in American society. Our culture is far too opposed to breastfeeding to be supportive of something like that. Shame, too - it would be wonderful if we were more open and welcoming of teaching our children about doing the best thing for our babies and for ourselves!
I couldn't find a comment section on the Fox & Friends site. I sooooo wanted to comment. What do they think little girls did before there were bottles? Do you think they let their "babies" starve???
I don't mind little girls pretending to bf their babies. Mine did when I was nursing the twins. But she didn't need a BF doll to do it.
What I don't like about the doll is the halter top. I don't like the daisy "nipples" and I agree with article in that, they're far too young to have toys with nipples on them. It's just too much. I think it's inappropriate, and I prefer to keep my daughters innocence right where it's at, at 6 years old. She can play with bras when she has the breasts and maturity for them. I believe letting her "pretend" without a bra is fitting enough for her age.

OMG I don't know if I should watch this in the mood I am in...might send me off on a rant!
My daughter breastfed her doll at age 1 and I was SOOOO proud! It makes me mad that it seems you can't buy a doll without a bottle!!
