I'm on a mission & could use all the help I can get.

My best friend & have have been total head over heels Blockheads since we were 11 yrs old (Blockhead = die hard fan of New Kids on the Block).  Well, her birthday is coming up soon & I'm trying to accomplish something extra special for her.

I've rallied a lot of support & help over on the NKOTB.com forums, but with the end of the tour (prior to my post), the boards have been less active than usual, so I'm branching out.

The following is a post I made to the forums recently.

I know that this "obsession" is laughable to many, but we're used to that.  Laugh until you fall out of your chair if you like  LOL.... but then if you could read it again and look past that part & look at the friendship.... and maybe pitch in to help a little?

Thanks for looking.

Fellow Soldiers & “Tweeters” ---- I come to you for help today!

I’m sure many of us have a similar story: You & your BFF were NK fanatics together the first time around… and are now enjoying the ride again. It’s the same with me, too.

My BFF and I met at the end of my driveway some 28 yrs ago. We were all of 3 yrs old. I showed her my new kittens, she spent 20 minutes trying to tell me her dog's name. The next morning after we met, she awoke & announced to her mother that she was “going to Laura’s house”. Her mom asked who “Laura” was, and she said “She’s my best friend.”

The rest is history. My BFF, Eva, & I have been through it ALL together -- and our friendship has never waivered.

In 1st grade, she was diagnosed with a bone condition & had to wear leg casts, then braces, for about a year. You’d think that would slow down a 6 yr old --- oh, but you don’t know US that well! LOL We FOUND a way. I can remember her standing on the top step of the porch while I held a bike steady for her to climb on… then giving her a good “GUNG HO” til she got moving fast enough to keep balance --- and we’d ride all day long! When she wanted to stop…. back to the porch we’d go & I’d stand in front and stop her at the steps so she could get off okay.

This year of medical problems meant she’d have to repeat the grade… separating us in school. That usually causes a break -- finding new friends you’re with more often…. but not with us.

When we were 11... almost 12 yrs old.. I can remember being at her house one day when she said to me “OMG! You’ve GOT to see these guys!”… and she showed me THIS poster --- I’ll never forget it. My very first exposure to our boys…..

That’s when our “descent into the abyss” began! LOL

We spent the next several yrs living & breathing NKOTB together. It made our bond stronger than I ever imagined it could be. For her 13th birthday, I gave her a box of rocks. Yes… rocks.

Confused? ---- yeah well… so was she! LOL

Underneath the rocks of said box was a stack of tissue paper… and wrapped up in that paper was a concert ticket.

We laughed & cried together so much that day & spent the next weekend making signs out of bed sheets.

The day after that show --- at the 80,000+ seat SOLDOUT houston Astrodome --- we made my dad take a vacation day so we could stand in line for 3 1/2 hrs....to meet....

.. Their PARENTS!!

SSssshhhh... don't tell her I snitched on her... but in the 3 1/2 hrs she had to think of something clever... when she got to Alma... what did she say????? "Thank you for giving birth to Donnie". I sh*t you not -- that's what she said! Alma & Marlene cracked up!

**********************************************************************************************************

When my kids were born --- she was there!

When my son’s father & I broke up & I wanted to crawl under a rock & die --- she was there!

When my childhood dream came true & we met Joey Mac for the first time...

...and then I cried like a baby..... she was there...

When my uncle passed away earlier this yr & I had to deal with 4 very upset kids & taking my disabled mom to the other side of the state for the funeral... she was there.

Every crisis & every celebration. Every loss & every gain. Every good day & every bad --- she’s been there. And maybe even best of all.... we've always just understood each other...even when nobody else does...

And on top of all that she means to me, she's also a wonderful daughter --- living with & caring for her mom who suffers complications of diabetes. Her myspace profile lists her hero as her Mom.

**********************************************************************************************************

Last year, on her 31st birthday… she was here again…. eating chocolate cake like when we were 13...

looking at the same memorabilia we did when we were 13...

and making the same wish on those candles as she did when we were 13 -- Donnie Wahlberg.

AND… just as at 13, at 31, her gift was a concert ticket.

This past year has been an amazing journey for us. We were talking the other day about how -- back in the day, we couldn't get within a mile of the guys. That day we waited so long to get 2 seconds with their parents... we TRULY believed that would be the closest we'd ever get to them. And now.. just in the past year..... WOW!! We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve “stalked”. We've unapologetically professed our undying love for they guys

We’ve made signs again (this time a little smaller).

We’ve had waffles at 3am when we weren’t even hungry!

We've fulfilled... & even surpassed... childhood dreams time & time again.

This reunion & our friendship are true blessings that I could never put a price on. I honestly don’t know what I’d do w/o her. I love her so much!

****************************************************************************************************
But I’ve rambled on long enough ---- now comes to my mission.

As some of you may have heard… Our boys like to tweet. Especially Mr. Wahlberg.

My mission is simply this: I hope to have the guys tweet or message or call or --- whatever I can get, basically, --- her in some shape or form on her birthday…. and I need YOUR help!

If you’ve read this far… I sincerely thank you for your time… and if you’d like to help…. this is what I ask:

1: TWEET, TWEET, & TWEET some more.
2: Leave messages & comments to NKOTB on their homepage here.
3: If you know of any other way to get a note to the guys --- by all means! Please do!
4: Pass this along to anyone you think would help.

That’s it. Just tweet/message the guys as often as you think to do so between now & her Bday & link them to this post and/or ask them to “get at” her for her birthday. .

If you can only do it once a day -- great!
If you get bored & feel like tweeting it repeatedly -- SUPER great!
If you don’t tweet all that much (or at all), bring this to their attention by other means if you can & pass it along to others.

If nothing else, just give the post a quick *BUMP* if you see it slide too far! EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!
