Question: Does this article make you think President Obama may have alterior motives in awarding 2 extreme anti-Israeli contestants to the Presidental Medal of Freedom Award?
Total Votes: 4
When I first saw this article, I thought it was about anti-Semitism, but then saw that maybe Mr. Rich Cohen was trying to make a much different point.
He points out, in an extremely sad and hopeless manner, that many Jewish people have lost their belief that anything will ever change in regards to hostility towards them,etc., so have contented themselves with just living life-hoping that racial tensions will pass them by-which we all know is just ignoring reality, with Islam's 57 states surpassing the United States, and I'm pretty sure they still don't like Israel.
So why could the choosing of the contestants considered for the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award possibly be a type of racial conditioning?
In what way does freedom link with oppression? It doesn't. Just because you are free to choose your belief doesn't mean you should be awarded when your choice includes your freedom to oppress another countries people all over the world. In bestowing this award, what should be considered?
Well, #1. This is the highest award a civilian can achieve from the United States of America;
#2. It is bestowed upon the contestants by the President of the United States;
#3. It is an honor to be considered, much less chosen, thereby making the contestant an object of scrutiny- Why does this contestant deserve this highest award from America?
#4. What power and influence throughout the world, will each contestant be capable of once this highest honor is bestowed upon them?
The 3 contestants chosen this year were Billie Jean King, the tennis champion; Steven Hawking, physicist and decoder of time; and, Mary Robinson, the first Irish female President.
Although recognized as a crusader for Women's rights in Ireland and the world, Ms. Robinson also has a reputation of joining herself to organizations emphatically anti-Israel. Serving as the United Nations high commissioner of Human Rights as well as presiding over the United Nations Conference Against Racism, groups which have not only sided against Israel but which the United States has boycotted due to their instigating anti-Israel hatred, one has to consider the reason why President Obama would push aside counsel that advised him to reject her as unjust and to refuse to acknowledge her, as well as possibly Billie Jean King, (who has problems with even bagels at a breakfast table), and bestow the medal of honor on them anyway. Were there no other recipients worthy that did not buck Ireland's history of supporting a Jewish state in Palestine, or, that are so hostile to Israel that they have to be on a "watchdog" organization's list, as Ms. King has been?
What kind of examples is President Obama putting forth before our American young, the people that are next in line to defend not only our country, but our allies? What will they be thinking as they consider these Presidential award winners?
That is what I thought after reading the article.
President Obama, of course, doesn't have to agree with every contestant's views or theories of science, etc., but I think I am safe to say that hating one of America's allies and joining with organizations that promote that hatred, doesn't equate with how black holes radiate energy or singing beautiful songs. Some of the former contestants have been singers like Pearl Bailey. Astronaut Buz Aldrin, was another contestant- an example for today's youth. Country, mom-and-apple-pie actor, Andy Griffith was also chosen for this award. Were they worthy of the award? I'm thinking I may want to look into this further-I have descendants that I want to grow up looking up to persons that are examples of justice, racial equality, as well as not forcing one belief structure over another to control the world someday, but that's just how I believe, I'm not too sure about anyone else now. ////
