Coming back from Blaise, I fell into a fitful sleep. When I drifted into a dream, I found myself back in LaPush. But it wasn't LaPush like I know it. The entire area was commercialized with cookie cutter neighborhoods. The beautiful hills were scared with development. The forrests of trees were raped for lumber. Industry tore the scared ground opening the earth to take the heart of what was protected inside. Street lites and parking meters riddled First Beach. Tourist shops sprung up on our Sacred Island on the ground of our ancestors long forgotten. Along with the land, our language was dead. Our culture was burried in the clay deep below the once fertile ground. The blood of the Quileute became the currency of forture for America as we were wipped from earth.

Tears fell down my face crying, pleading as our Totems were torn down to make way for a Shopping Mall. Those with Quileute features open their mouth, but there was no evidence of the ancestors on their tongue. It was all English slang of American ways.

Restlessly I walked along LaPush in the land that I loved. Instead of wet pine and salty sea, I smelled smoke and the poison of factories. Our schools no longer taught culture, but were filled with metal detectors, graffiti, and disrespect for the Elders. Bon fires no long held times of story telling, but high teenagers making out by firelight. The only evidence of my people was in a broken down trailor run by an old man with small plaque telling about our history. On his tables he displays of our baskets, totems, and life.

Opening my mouth I screamed but no sounds came out. I tried to pull down the buildings. They wouldn't budge. As I sat to cry, giving up to die along with the hopelessness of the destruction of my people, Kara walked into the picture. With her soft steps, she touched the scene. As she did, a square of it seperated like a puzzle peice from the obscene picture. Kara lifted it away. John followed behind her. Behind him were more members of the Pack, and those connected to them. I watched faces I knew from my generation, and the ones above and below, walk into the horror all peice my peice dismantling what could be our future.

Then I saw a Purple eyed beauty, with a young man wearing Blaise's face. Next to him was a handsome man with my Nevi's big brown eyes. Beside them was my Jaki, a carbon copy of his Father - Jacob Black. Then Four joined them - two girl and two boys - all wearing features of Marcus and myself. Together they lifted large sections of of the puzzle, feeding it into the abyss of the sea. As we all worked together, all who now hold the future of our Tribe in our hands, the desolation was cleared showing the prosperity that could be if we all worked together. The land was once again whole. In an astounding leap, Jaki transformed into a large Russet wolf. The howl he sent up rose a pride in me I had never felt. On the Alpha's call, Wolf Shapeshifter, Animagi like Nevi and Deni, and Metemorphmagi like Bliss, all transformed. All of my kids ran together in one Pack.

Rushing in from the side were more, making a large full pack. There were more than even I could have imagines - white, black, grey, blond, and brown wolves. It was easy to spot Liyat amoung them as she sparkled even in wolf form as she ran by Bliss, whose purple eyes sat her apart. Deni, Nevi, and Bliss were all smaller than the rest, lacking the actual wolf Gene. Jaki, lead the way. Two of the wolves - two of Marcus and my quadriplets - changed form into eagles taking flight into the sky giving the Pack a view through Liyat's link. From her Vampire heritage, she could link the Pack conciousness with anyone around them.  Another of the four disillusioned even smoother than I do. The largest of the Quadriplets bounded headed with the Pack like a linebacker clearing a way for the smaller to make their way through the forest brush. As they spread out, the covered the entire Quileute land

Our land was safe. New totems stood tall declaring the pride of our people. James Island watched over it all. The land was organic, prestine. The tribe grew from the less than thousand now to ten thousand and more all honoring the old ways, while being able to still carve a place into the modern society around us.

Then a voice rang in my head, "Don't lose sight, Penelope. You're doing what is right. Stay focused on your children. You have honored all we have asked of you. We will care for you. Ask for help. It's not just your future. Everyone has a hand in creating the future of our people. Let them help you. You cannot do it alone."

With that, I opened my eyes feeling Marcus's warm skin under my face. The sound of his breath brought me back to the night. As I tried to take in all of the images given to me in the dream. Suddenly all of my worry about who loves who, how much, or for how long seemed so trivial. My purpose in life wasn't dependant on who stayed in my life, it was dependant on me living my life to the fullest for my children.

Drawing up the image of our four in my mind, tears came again to my eyes. They were beautiful and strong. The magic they had amazed even me. Feeling the rise and fall of his chest, I retraced in my mind the features of the faces that visited me in my dream to the small little ones the Healer should us. No longer did having them fell like a burden. It was as it should be.

Just like everything in my life, Marcus and I skipped a lot of steps. From I love you to having a kid together was like a leap year. The grace with which he handled it showed the heart of the man I not only deeply loved, but respected. I loved him enough to want him to do whatever he needed to do, even if that was away from me. Suddenly, that felt okay. Now I understood our time together was only me a small part of a much larger picture. Instead of fearing the day that it could possible end, I should focus on enjoying every minute of it I had. If he lived out this future with me, it would be great. If not, I would go forward anyway.

Pressing my lips to his skin I whispered, "Thank you. I love you more than I can tell you. And thank you."
