I am just wondering why so many of us think its so hard to quit? I jsut quit almost 4 weeks ago, and I will admit it was hard.. There where times I thought the devil himself was going to come out of me.. But that last a few days. I still got the craving but it only lasted a few minutes. And now 4 weeks in, I think back to when I was smoking and I would say "oh its to hard to quit"... Thats bull. Its all mind over matter.. I mean we are killing ourselves. My hubby and i both quit, m mom has throat cancer from smoking and she still wont quit. Its like we are writing our own death..
So, my question is: if you smoke, why dont you quit? If you cant do it for yourself, why not your kids? I had to go visit my mom in the hospital on a ventilator, choking, having them cut an emergency trach whole in her throat so she could breathe. Ive watched Hospice come in and tell me shes dead 4 times.. Is that something you want for your children? I know that is not how I want to spend my childrens life.. I dont ever want them to have to go threw what I go thru with my mom... Its so selfish of us.
I see people smoking now and I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for thier family.. For the awful smell that follows them around.. Its so damn nasty.. I think to myself... I used to smell like that.. A dirty ass ash tray... YUCK!

SO, if you are a smoker why dont you quit? Is it fear? Or do you feel like its your right? DO, you think you cant?

Its so much easier than you think..... really ... it is.....

my dad just got diagnosed w/lung cancer...time may be short... I don't smoke.  My dad is doing what your mom does, still smoking, and at 84, we let him.  He still has to go smoke outside and hospice started 2 weeks ago... Stay strong and I hope you never smoke again... some of us however, have been smelling this stuff for years, and wonder what the consequences will be...

thanks for your posting, it helps to know I'm not the only one w/a stubborn parent...
