I turned 18 August 8th 2004, I was married September 18th 2004, and I got pregnant October 2004! I took 5 pregnancy test between Oct and Dec and all of them came back negative. I went in January to the Doctor thinking something was very wrong with me and I found out then I was almost 20 wks pregnant!

Xavier O'Neal born July 3rd 2005 7 lbs 6 oz and 20.5 inches long! He was due the 7th!

The day before I went in to labor, it was a friday, I had a Doctors apt! The doctor stipped my membranes and told me I may see some blood within the next couple hours and that this may or may not start labor. Slept great that night and woke up about 9:00 the next morning bleeding. By 10:00 I was having some menstral like cramps and my bleeding had mucus in it too! I went shopping with hubby and by the time we got home I was getting antsy. Just wanted to walk and rock back and forth. By 1:00 I could time the contraction. By 5:00 they were 5 minutes apart so we went to the hospital. When I arrived I was 5 cm dialated. by 11:00 I was 8 cm and they broke my water. Up until then my labor was easy but when they broke my water my contractions started one on top of the other, I started shaking, and throwing up. They gave me an epidural which took them 8 sticks before they got right. By 12:30 I was resting. By 12:45 It was time to start pushing and 3 contractions later at 12:58 he was born.

Malachi O'Mari born September 28 2008 6 lbs 5 oz and 19 inches long! He was due the 11th!

We started trying to get pregnant again not long after I had Xavier. I started on fertility drugs about 6 months into trying. In August of 07 I stopped the drugs. I didn't have a period until Nov 5. I Got pregnant January 1 and didn't find out until I took a pregnancy test in Febuary to start back on the fertility drugs! It was Febuary 14th and I had the test for almos a week and I just kept putting it off. So I went in and took the test and instantly it showed up positive, I couldn't believe it!! Hubby came home that evening with a dozen roses, chocolates, and a bottle of wine! He handed me the wine and I handed him the PT. He snatched the wine back and told me I couldn't have that LOL We were so happy!

Right before I went into labor the midwives  had me so scared. They told me Malachi was atleast 8 1/2 to 9 lbs if not bigger and that they didn't know if I could handle that....well this is what happened!

I had been having Braxton Hick contractions since I wa 10 wks pregnant. My last month I would have regular contracions 4-5 minutes apart fro 8-10 hrs at a time before they would stop. Up until the night before I went into labor I had been waking up with severe contractions every night. The night before labor I had NO contractions and slept great! I woke up cleaned house and packed my bags to stay with a friend that night. Hubby had to work and no one wanted me alone at home with a 3 yr old and no car. So I had sex at 1:00 with my husband. 2:00 my friend showed up to pick us up and my contraction had already started. By 4;00 my contractions were 3 minutes apart and painful. I called my Midwife and she told me to wait until my contractions were 1 minute apart, I was also an hour from my hospital and positive for strep B. By 5:30 my contraction were 1 minute apart, So we rushed to the hospital. We got there by 6:30 and Hubby arrived shortly after. My Midwife told me then that I was not in labor and they were probably going to send me home. They let me walk the halls for an hour and then checked me again. I was in a ton of pain and they told me again they wanted to send me home. Around 7:00 they gave me a drug to supposidly make me sleep. They told me after an hour they would send me home. Well the whole hour they wouldn't let me out of the bed and I was screaming in pain. My nurse told me that she hated how us young women came in here and tensed up and made it twice as hard on ourselves. 8:00 they started unhooking me to send me home. A different nurse came in and looked at me and RAN out saying she is in hard labor. They finally got me back into a labor room at about 10:00 and then I was 7 cm dialated. I layed in a tub until 11:00 by then I was in so much pain from laying the whole time I couldn't take it so they gave me an epidural. It took from 11:00 until 12:00 before they finally got my epidural in. It took 3 tries and they ended up giving me a spinal and also poked a hole into my spinal cavity leaking fluid out. My spinal started to wear off by 12:30. My midwife left and told me, my husband, and my friend it would be atleast until 3 am before I woudl even begin to push so they went and go something to eat. Then my nurse came back in and said OMG your ready to push. My midwife came in running and so did my hubby and friend. My midwife yelled at my nurse asking why she didn't go ahead and break my water. So the nurse told her she was afraid if she did that then the baby would come out then too. So they broke my water and sure enough he came plopping out. He was so tiny and they relized he was actually earlier then they thought. It took the an hour to get him to cry and breath right. It was the scariest hour of my life. Shortly after the doctor who gave me the spinal came up asking if I was having any headaches. He told me I had lost spinal fluids which I felt when It happened...my fluid soaked the bed. He told me If I continued to have headaches I would need another procedure. I spent 3 days laying on my back. They made me lay flat. If I got up I had terrible head crushing headaches and I would get severly dizzy! So  on the third day they gave me a blood patch. They took blood from my arm and put it back into my spinal cord. They told me then that I would never again be allowed to have a spinal!!

Laylah-Marie Elizabeth born June 25 2010 7lbs 9oz and 21inches long. She was due July 9th!

So I am starting from the beginning. We expected Laylah-Marie to arrive early but after weeks of false labor we quickly learned she had her own agenda! The week before Laylah-Marie was born I had issues with constant contractions which I had never felt before. I would have them for hours at a time and it woula cause the top of my stomach to hurt very badly. Also for the week prior to delivery I had many contractions that would start in the afternoon and would be 5 min or so apart on into the night. They never got closer together or more painful though. Now all that being said lets start on June 24th. For the week or so before delivery I had terrible mood swings and woke up many of mornings irretable and grumpy. Well I noticed June 24th that I woke up in a great mood. I also had slept fairly well the night before. I was much more up beat and purkier then the days prior. Others especially Daddy could tell the difference. I felt good all day too until about 3:30 when I starting having my normal afternoon contractions. They were inconsistant and painless just uncomfortable. They continued on into late evening when the top of my stomach begain to ache. I relaxed with a hot pad on but my contractions stayed coming. I did not to my Mom before going home with the boys that this was the first time my BH lasted weither I was walking, standing, or sitting. But again they were inconsistant and painless. So I went home, put the boys to sleep and layed down! I did notice at that time that I was still contracting so I actually got back up and climbed in to the tub for a warm bath. By this time it was about 12am! The contractions which were still painless seemed to go way so I got out and went on to bed. I woke up many times throughout the night with uncomfortable BH but multiple times I told myself I was just dreaming. Well 5:00am on June 25th I woke up to some strong BH. I only had a few when I thought maybe it was the position in which I was laying. So I got up and started to move around fully expecting the contractions to stop. By 5:30 I started having painful contractions avout 4-5min apart. Inbetween the contractions I told myself that I would wait until 6am to call Hubby home from work and to wake anyone up. But everytime a painful contraction hit I second guessed waiting. After a few times of back and fourth conversating with myself I decided to call Hubby. After I got ahold of him at work and told him I thought this was it I called my Mom and told her we were on our way. The plan wass to labor there at her house. So inbetween contractions which at this point were pretty harsh I got the boys up and in the truck. I had a contraction just as I got into the truck that was bad enough I had to jump out the truck and get on my hands and knees to work through it! As soon as I got through it I jumped in the truck and took off to Mom's b/c I new it could be dangerous to have a contraction while driving. These were just too painful. I arrived at my mom's right about 6am and called my Doula right away and told her I was pretty sure this was it! By the time I got off the phone with the Doula the contractions were painful enough I was moaning and growning through them. The only position that could atleast ease some of the discomfort was on my hands and knees and that is exactly how the Doula found me when she arrived at 6:35am. I was on all fours with my head and chest leaning against my birthing ball. I was working very hard through the contractions and my body's defense to the pain was for me to throw up. At 6:45 my Hubby got to the house and the Doula decided it was time to check me and the baby. At that point I was 5-6 cm dilated and Laylah was doing great with a heart rate of 140bpm. My contractions were at that point 2-3 min apart so the Doula decided it was time to move quickly and get me to the hospital because labor was progressing so fast. They got me up and I made it as far as the rug right at the front door when I had a set of really strong contractions that sent me back down on to all floors. I wasn't able to move b/c the contractions were so close together. At 7:00am I told the Doula I felt pressure so she rechecked me and I was 9cm. So the Doula told my Mom at that point to call 911 and let them know that we were having a normal birth without complication but would need transportation to the hospital. As soon as I heard that we weren't gonna make it to the hospital and the Doula told me I could push when I felt the pressure I began to push. At about 7:10 after a few pushes my water broke on its own! It was very extreme b/c my body completly took over. Once I began to push the contractions weren't really that painful. Inbetween contractions I felt almost drugged b/c my body got into this relaxation mode. But when I had the urge to push it was nothing I was able to control...naturally my body would push and I could feel her head slowly coming down. My body would push and ease push and ease. Throughout the whole contraction. It really was amazing. At one point I could understand what lots of ladies talk about with the ring of fire although it wasn't bad for me at all. I could feel a little burn just from the stretch as she was coming out. But it was such an amazing and exilerating experience. At 7:22am Laylah-Marie Elizabeth was born 7lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long. She was bigger then both of her brothers. It took me about 5 min after she was born to really move. As soon as she was out I leaned forward on my Husband just completly exhausted. I was still on all fours at that point and the Doula was holding Laylah behind me. So once I caught up with reality she handed Laylah through my legs and I sat back and held her until the ambulance arrived at 7:25am. Right when they arrived the Doula took Laylah and clamped the cord (after it completly stopped pulsating which was awesome) and at 7:30 Hubby got to cut the cord. At 7:35 I delivered the placenta and by 7:45 they had Laylah and I loaded into the ambulance and on our way to the hospital!!!

On the route to the hospital, which was about an hour and 15 min trip, I nursed Laylah and she ate the whole way. She was still guncked up and on top of that she was covered in black lab hair from head to toe LOL but she was beautiful. Unfortunately I began having severe cramping and contractions from her nursing and my body's response was to get sick. Once we made it to the Hospital they took her to evaluate her and weigh her as they work on me!! She was absolutely perfect! I was still having extreme uterine contractions and cramping and continued getting sick. While they tried to ease my stomach the Doc came in and examined me. The stretched my legs out on stirrups and he started pushing and poking in me. It hurt worse then her crowning and all I could do it cry and scream begging him to stop. He told me it had to be done and he was checking to make sure I hadn't torn or anything. After a few minutes of terrible evaluation he started pushing on one spot and said that I had a small scratch. Not even a tear just a scratch towards the front. He then told me it was oozing slightly and that he needed to synge it. So he stuck this thing to me that burned the scratch closed and OMG if I didn't scream out in pain. It was the worst feeling ever, They ended up putting me through more pain once I got to the hospital after delivery. So for future reference I decided that maybe it was a better idea to birth at home and stay at home. They really had me messed up all day! They bothered me so bad down below that where before I could sit and pee without pain afterwards I could sit straight or pee without extreme pain. It was rough. But overall the birth was amazing and that is all I asked for. I was proud of myself and I was thrilled to have my baby girl!!!

Your little guys are adorable. The 2nd story is crazy. You saw a MIDWIFE and she acted like that?! I always thought they were better than Dr's intervention wise but I guess not in your case! Glad all was well though.

Wow! Talk about some scary birth stories, I dont know if I could have a 3rd if I went thru what you did. Also I have also had to get a blood patch for leaking spinal fluid but was never told that I could never have another spinal of any sort done. But I am glad I read that story because now I know!

I can't believe MIDWIVES told you an 8 or 9 pound baby would be too big. What idiots! lol That is often not even accurate, either.

Too Blue Spiral....yea I know...I have little faith in what I call hospital delivering midwives...the Doula I had with my 3 child has assisted with home deliveries of very very large babys without a problem!

Yeah.

My son was an unassisted homebirth and he was 10 pounds. Labor was 10 hours, and no issues whatsoever.

Yea a local Amish lady delievered her 10th child and he was 10 lbs like 8 or 9 oz and he was breech. So I totally trust our bodies, and not so much our doctors LOL
