Apparently, my apartment manager expects a full out professional clean when tenets vacate apartments in the complex. I did the walk through a couple hours ago and I'm only home right now because Yeled desperately needs food and a nap. I have to (re)clean the windows, (re)sweep and mop floors, I've done the fridge/freezer AGAIN, the cupboards and drawers AGAIN, oh, and the appliances have to be moved out and cleaned under and around. I spend all last week in that damn apartment and now I have to spend all of today over there too because if it's not done today, we start getting charged double rent.
Next move out, I'm hiring Merry Maids or something similar to do the cleaning. I DO NOT have it in me to do this kind of cleaning and manage small children!
It would appear that if we residents are not perfect housekeepers every day of the year, we're going to pay for it at the end of the lease. Cause even getting all the crap done today, I'm still going to be paying around $200 in maintanence charges for the carpet which is supposedly new but isn't, window blinds, a cracked window I didn't know about until today, a torn screen, and a stained dishwasher.
Since Yeled is too tired to do anything but whine, now I have to go feed him his lunch before making him take a nap. I freaking hate my life this week. Too much to do, and neither time nor energy to do it all. I want to run away.

I'm learning! I was so detailed when I did the inspection sheet for the new place (we transfered to a large unit in the same complex). I do NOT want to be in this same situation again in a couple years when we're able to get a house! What really gets me is that there's a burn hole in the carpet here (new unit) that I'm sure she charged the previous tennets for. But if it's continued existence is anything to go by, the $45/per bleach spot (there are two) will go straight into the coffers without her ever having the carpet actually patched.
We've been in for a week and I STILL don't have a working smoke detector either. I'm debating between waiting till after our vacation or calling the Fire Department tomorrow. Current mood: It'll probably be tomorrow.

Apartment managers are NOTORIOUS for coming up with ridiculous "problems" upon move-out and charging former tenants for them. It's a game they all know how to play.
