My family NEVER goes out to eat.  Ever.  Not only because we can't afford it usually but because at most restaurants there is literally nothing that we can eat.  But I finally found a wonderful vegan restaurant here in Kansas City called Eden Alley and today we all went for lunch with my mom and my grandma.

Brody did SUCH a good job!  I was so proud of him.  He didn't fuss at all walking into the restaurant (he normally does because it's a new place with lots of people and noises) and he was excited to sit down at the table.  He munched on the bread and agave butter while we waited for our food and colored with his crayons.  When lunch finally came he chowed down on his veggie burger, apples and garlic potatoes.  I can't believe this is the kid who used to only eat about 4 foods.  He was so happy the entire time and never fussed or was scared by the new surroundings.  So of course for dessert he split a piece of chocolate cake with me and his dad.  :)  It just shocks me to see the progress that he makes.  This time last year any attempt to venture into a public place was just met with a HUGE melt down.  I just wanted to share our good day and I am looking forward to being able to take him out and about more often!

He decided that he wanted my strawberry kiwi iced tea instead of his drink!

Brody coloring pretty pictures while we waited for our food.

Look carefully at his mouth...he can't close it all the way because it's FULL of chocolate cake.  I'm sure that gets me the mom of the year award, right?

He is kind of cranky now, probably coming off of a sugar buzz and exhausted by being out.  But we still had a great day. :)

Katie... so glad you posted the adorable pics of my grandchild. I too am sooooo proud of him. Honestly... the way he behaved I doubt if anyone would have suspected that this was a child with autism. All your hard work, (as well as his) is paying off. I am proud of you both!!! Way to go mama. And BTW.. I had a really wonderful day with you all today and loved the food and atmosphere of the vegan restruant. thanks for inviting me along. Now we can cook us up some new vegan dishes in Katie's kitchen. lol. YUM.  :)baking

WooHoo!!!!  =D  Way to go Brody!  And you, too!  =)  Unfortunately we didn't have such a proud mama day.  Brandon decided to headbutt a little girl at the health department for playing with the toys he seemed to think were "his".  The parent's weren't very happy and wouldn't let me explain.  One of these days we are going to have a good day out in public!  lol.

LOL Krystall.  And you know I'm not laughing at you I can just relate totally!

Hey I honestly think this is the first time we have had a public outing that didn't at least have one meltdown and it has been 3 years in the making, so yours is in the future too I'm sure. :)

That is so awesome, Katie!  It shows how much time and love and effort you have put into his care.  You should be very proud of moments like these.  You have totally earned them!
