mommytoadam's journal

giving God the glory

Quite a while ago I wrote a couple of journal about how I know God and Heaven is real.  The journals revolved around the dreams He gave me after my dad died in 2004.  If you want to go back and read them, then please do so.  Anyway, there was a part in the first one where my dad and I were walking around my cul-de-sac.  I asked my dad if he was okay and his reply was this "I am more than okay."  That stuck with me for five years now.

Today I am reading a great fiction book entitled Never the Bride by Cheryl McKay and Rene Gutteridge.  It's a funny, touching book that made me laugh and made me cry.  I'm almost finished and there it was...page 302.  It made me stop in my tracks and get a little teary eyed.  The main character, Jessie, lost her parents in an accident together.  She raised her sister after that.  She kind of gave up on God.  She's 35 and struggling to find love.  God physically appears to her and leads her on a soul searching adventure.  I don't want to give too much of the book away because it's really a good read.  But on page 302 she says the following :

"One last question: can You at least tell me they're [her parents] okay?"

The next line blows me out of the water -

"They're more than okay."

Wow.  It truly stopped me and I got one of those little heart flutter moments you get when you know God is trying to get your attention.  The author of the book used the same words (substituting they're for I since they were a couple) as my dad spoke to me in the dream.

God is there...He is in control...and he's just waiting...waiting to be asked to go on a soul searching adventure with you.
