I'll keep today's pretty short

1. As parents you must model behavior so BUCKLE UP

2. A car seat is tight enough when it moves less than 1 inch along the belt path

3. You CANNOT, repeat CANNOT use the seat belt and latch together. Why this changes the dynamic of the seat and how crash forces are absorbed. It is not tested this way and has not passed tests this way

But you HAVE to use the top tether when the car seat is FF and you're using a seat belt.

At least that's what the manual said for my DD's Natulis.

Does that apply to all car seats in cars not equipped with the LATCH system?

Since cars made since 2004 must be made with the LATCH system  car seats since that same time frame come with them as well.  There would be a few car seats before that time that may not have latch that are not yet expired, you would just use the seat belt to install

But you are correct if you have a top tether anchor you MUST use it FFing!!!! If you don't have a top tether anchor in most cases you can have it retrofitted in your car

I thought it was 2002? I know my 2001 stratus had the latch system back then.

It was 2004 that cars were required to have latch. Some had it before. In 2000 cars were required to have the top tether. The total LATCH system happened in stages
