I LOVE to camp .. did I say that effectively enough?? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE... Which is one of the reason I chose to move to the country... I love the country. I love the sounds the crickets make, the bullfrogs, the night animals waking from their daytime slumber to carouse through the black velvet of night time in the country. I love camping in a tent, unless it is seriously storming then I want at least a shelter somewhere near by. I usually camp by the river so that is my running water lol, it is also our food supply..
We went camping once when our baby was not even 2 by the river with hubby's best friend and his wife and kids and his mom and her grandkids she had custody of. Jesse was like 4. He told Joe ( hubbys bf) tht he was gonna catch an alligator on the river. Joe just laughed and said " mmhmmm"..
Well later that day Jesse caught somethign and when he pulled it out it was a muddog.. IF you have never been fishing a muddog is a cross between a fish and a lizard. They have 4 legs and a flat head like a catfish. They are slimy and sticky and once they take your bait your only recourse is to cut the line and let them loose. Well Jesse hollered and jumped up and down and said " LOOK JOE it's a baby alligator I told you I told you, I caught one."
Joe and the rest of us just laughed till we nearly peed ourselves and said , " Yep you sure did"
Later that night Joe sent doug who was about 8 to the edge of the river to get water for boiling. Well there was like a step down on the hillside and each one got you closer to the river till the final one was literally right on water level. Well doug tries to lean over from about 2 foot away from river's edge and fell into the water. As he splashed around in maaaybeee 6 inches of water hollering and slapping the water , Joe grabbed him by the waistband of his brithces and yanked him up. All you see is Doug soaking wet dangling in mid air in the safety of Joe's grasp and all of us laughing. Joe turned him to where they were eye to eye and Doug said, " whew Jow ty I thought I was gonna drown." Joe just set him right back in the river . Doug started hollering again and Joe yelled, " Son stand up for crying out loud">
Imagine Doug's surprise when he stood up and the water was barely to his shin. HE dipped the bucket in the water and climbed back up the hill, embarassed and said, " Well I didn't know" lol...
I want to go again, maybe without the kids this time just me and Gene lol... hmmmmm...
