I've done it ladies. I've found the new hot workout. Painting!
We're considering upgrading to a new home. I love my house, I really really do.. but we have never been "city" people.. both of us want some acres and we cant get that without moving out of town a bit. I've made an appointment a few weeks out, for September 2nd to have an agent come give us a market value on our place and see what if any gains we've made in the past two years (I know we've made some but probably not as much as if the market hadn't gone *poof* a WEEK after we closed!)
So to freshen the place up a bit, I've been retouching paint around the house (amazing how from about 4 feet down the wall is suddenly a darker color, with hand prints and scuff marks and pen and crayon... must be goblins. That's it. Goblins.)
Along with paint touch ups come minor repairs... like that broken cabinet door... or re-framing that dining room door that has been bugging me for two years but was never #1 on the to-do list.
So far I've repainted the hallway, the dining room, the kitchen, all the trim in those rooms (what a pain in the butt, literally) and now I am getting started on repainting both sides of all 15 doors in the house. My arm.. just the right one... is THROBBING. My abs hurt for some weird reason.. and my back is so sore I could keel over at any minute.. but I cant really stop.
I haven't felt like this since going to a "bootcamp" workout with a friend!! I HATE painting. More than anything, I hate painting DOORS. Not having to touch up paint is one excellent reason not to move, in my opinion. Whos with me. lol.
The plus side is I am doing it all myself - and on a zero budget, which is forcing me to really say "OK this NEEDS to be done" and "this really DOESNT need to be done". And that's a good thing... sometimes I need some reeling in and some control on home improvement projects, lol! And, its forcing me to fix things on my own instead of wait for hubs to do it. I fixed the broken cabinet. I hung the clothing bar in my DD's armoire.. I ripped the trim down off the dining room door andrepaired the plaster around the door. I painted all the walls by myself.... so I'm proud of myself for that and really happy with the results. Amazing what can be done when I just put my mind to it and stop daydreaming and come up with a real solution!
All thats left is to clean out my flowerbeds I've kinda neglected in the 100+ degree weather.. paint the living room a lighter more neutral color of what I already have.. finish those damn doors.. and clean up all the shelves/closets in the house. I feel like its going to be really easy to get it all done in my three week timeline, and I wont have to stress, which is really nice. Even if we decide to stay right where we are, the house will look fresh and new and cleaner than ever so... its all good. Wish me luck!

I know how you feel. We are remodeling our home ourselves. Painting the exposed ceilings and re-painting the walls. It is a job!! My arms and legs never felt so much exercise!! You don't realize going up and down the ladder until the next day...lol. I get my inspiration from the Home and Garden network- lots of great ideas! I wish you luck!
