The commercial (which you can find on the cover girl site, youtube, and other places) has Ellen saying "Inner beauty is important, but not nearly as important as outer beauty. . .. " WHAT ARE THEY DOING?
I just wanted to make you all aware of it because I don't think they realize the effects that one advertisement can have on a young girl.
Comments:
It is satirical. But, if young people are unfamiliar with her then maybe they should rethink it. Better safe than sorry.
I completely understand that she's trying to be funny, but the girl who brought it to my attention is someone who just began to work through an eating disorder, and she is so confused. It took one year to get her to finally talk about her disorder to someone other than myself. Just last week she finally started going to a counselor and talking to her parents, and this is what she saw this week! It makes me so angry.

If you just focus on the words, it is wrong. If you watch the comercial & know anything about Ellen's comedy, it is funny. She is not a glamorous person. She is sarcastic. She is doing the poses all big & cheesey, not looking into the right cameras, etc... The comercial is very spoofy.
