Musings from my mind...

because not all great minds think alike.

I have expressed my love for this site numerous times. I am constantly amazed by the awesomeness that is CafeMom. I have often read sad stories and sent out prayers for those I've never met... but have stumbled across during a time of need. Always wanting to do what little I could- never realizing that it would come back in my favor.

My mother and step-father were in a horrible accident Sunday, August 16th. Both my mother and I are members of CM and are in a few groups together. After the accident, I immediately came to my closest online mom friends for support. You have no idea how great it was to be able to type out my feelings to my friends when I knew my voice wasn't going to hold up on me. I was able to talk through much of my feelings and come to terms with what was facing me... Thank you, my friends.

Right away, one of our joint friends posted a journal letting you all know the situation. With in 5 minutes- the journal went to #3. It then spent the next 24 hours at #1- while I updated my personal group, our friend Kristi updated you. The support was overwhelming. I'm still getting pm's and emails in support. Not only is this wonderful for me... it is going to be great for her.

It is amazing to see the people of her community come out in droves in order to show their love and support. My parents are good people and are obviously well loved. It means so much to us all... For my brother and sisters to be able to read all the comments left here- on the hospital site and the local news blog... it is an amazing solice.

You know- it is going to be great for her too. Once she wakes up and has to come to terms with her injuries. She has extensive problems and her road to recovery is going to be very long, very painful and horrible for us all to watch. She is going to have rough times, I know. The process is going to be unfair and scary... but I know that keeping all those pms- all these prayers- all those emails... We'll be able to read them together and remind her just how much love and support is out there for her. And when things seem bleak- you will again be our sunshine.

Thank you all, for your thoughts, your positive energy, your blessings and your prayers. Before now, I never realized how much help it was... but now, I have not even enough words to describe how much you all mean to me- and her.

I have been impressed with the out pourings of love & concern for different situations more than once on CM. I am pleased to be part of this community.

We will continue to send the light of healing & positive energy to your MoM & Step-dad. Please always know there is some one thinking of you all at all times.

That outpouring of love will be why this place will always be my online home. My friends are amazing.

Especially you, Carmin. Much love to you and Jeannie and Rod right now. (And I love the picture. =0))

That is what we do; we're there for each other, one way or another. You would do the same for any one of us, but that isn't why we do it. We do it because you are our friend, you and Jeanne, and have made places in our hearts.

Love you.

We love you Carmin, and I can't tell you how relieved and thankful I am that this story did not have a tragic ending that first night.

You know we are here for you. We are here for Jeanne and Rod.

The power of friendship through the internet sometimes bears the ball and chain of pre-conceived notions that these friendships are not real.

THIS proves this notion wrong.

I agree with this.  And I am honored to be even a very small part of the support system that you and your family can count on.

Thank you for the pictures, Carmin.  They are beautiful.  It gives me an image to hold in mind:  Seeing the two of them healthy, active, working together in the garden or lounging by the lake, being especially thankful for the gift of life and recovery they have been given.

Love to you and your family.
