I'm taking a break from writing about my brother due solely to the fact that I hate people in parking lots.  Do you people not know the rules of driving in a parking lot?  Seriously.

I was in the parking lot for a strip mall with my daughter and we were crossing at the designated crossing area.  And this one dumb bitch seems to have forgotten that you're supposed to YIELD to pedestrians.  That's right, she didn't stop for us to cross.  Her window was rolled down so I said to my little girl rather loudly, "See, honey, that's why you look before you cross, because people are idiots that don't stop for people walking."  I got a dirty look from her, but who cares?

And speaking of driving in parking lots, why, oh why don't you people SLOW DOWN???  The speed limit in most parking lots is about 10 mph, not 30.  They do that for a reason:  So you don't hit people!

And when at a grocery store, how hard is it to actually put your shopping cart in the cart return area?  How lazy can you be to not return your cart- especially if you're just a couple of spots away from it?  Don't give me the "I have kids and I can't carry them all back."  Look, you got them to the cart from your car, you can get them from the cart return to your car.  It's not that difficult.

Moving away from parking lots, I have a beef with you people who have long items sticking out the back of your cars, trucks and SUVs that you don't flag.  By flag I mean put some sort of brightly colored (red is most common) piece of fabric or tape on the end that is sticking out past your car to make it easy for other drivers to see and to judge distance from.  It's a safety thing, people.

And for anyone pulling a trailer: WIRE THE DAMN LIGHTS ON THE TRAILER.   I can't count the number of times I've seen a truck pulling a trailer that doesn't have wired lights - at night even - making it hard to see when they are stopping or turning.  Once again, it's a safety thing.

Also, if you have a trailer hooked on back, take it into consideration when you make turns that are going to cross one or more lanes of traffic.  Try to remember that your vehicle is longer so you need more time to make that turn.

Yes, I'm bitching.  I'm bitching a lot.  But damnit, I'm sick of shitty drivers that are too lazy to be safe.  Yes, I understand that everyone will have a bad driving day every once in a while, but it shouldn't become habit.

Good rant, don't get me started... I was broad sided in a parking lot a few months after I got my license years ago... stupid me thought the arrows on the lot meant that was the direction I should be going.  Laws don't protect you in a parking lot, common sense doesn't apply... insurance companies don't usually fight for you when your in a parking lot either.  I had to pay my deductible, even though I clearly wasn't at fault.  The police don't site anyone either, regardless of their opinion of fault.  Damn, I guess I did get started didn't I?  Ooops.
