Sorry, yeah, I am. I'm sick of these people who spank or beat (NOT saying they are always one in the same) their kids in Gods name. You know the proverb about spareing the rod in the bible. Did anyone ever think maybe God isn't telling you beat your kids with a stick? Maybe he's saying to be firm with discipline, but not literally strike them. Whatever. I think organized religion is a joke as it is. But anyways, keep beating your kids because your god told you too. My god however, loves his children and doesn't believe in abuse. I would never worship someone who told me to hurt my children. And no, this isn't a jab at all christians out there, just the ones who use it as an excuse to get away with sh*t.

I totally agree with you. I think people take the Bible and twist it to their liking. Its unfortunate that some people arent intelligent enough to actually take it for what it is, and not literally.
woo hoo! totally sick of so-called christians giving us and our god a bad rap. the rod was used to guide, not HIT, the flock. the dumdums! lol
The worst part is that those people have completely misunderstood that verse. "Spare the rod and spoil the child", has nothing to do with physical discipline. It is referring to a "rod" used in instruction and education. "Spoil" was being used more like "ruin". In other words, the more correct translation would be, "Keep your children ignorant and uneducated, and you will ruin them." Irony anyone?

The Bible does not instruct us to beat our children, in spite of what many believe. This is the rod of instruction. Like in the verse "thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me."
