My day started with an initial visit with the bariatric surgeon. I didn't actually see, him but the APRN in his office, and she was very nice. Tomorrow I have to call the psychologist and nutritionist and meet with them by next month. I also have to get a letter from my doctor supporting my decision to have the Lap-Band surgery done. Finally, I'm looking for all my old weight watcher stuff, but it seems to have disappeared (probably in the circular file) for proof of my trying to the insurance company. Maybe they won't give me too hard of a time.
At the visit, they weighed me (GULP!) 279.4 lbs and I'm only 5 feet tall. That puts my BMI at 54.5...morbidly obese. Funny, I don't feel morbidly obese, but I sure look it. I realized that after seeing myself on a video. I cried. I don't want to be heavy anymore. I want to look normal, eat normally, and live to eat any longer. I just want to eat to live.
Before I left the office, the APRN gave me a diet to follow for the next month. It's 1200 calories a day. I'm so hungry in between meals today. I'm going to take this one day at a time, because I can do anything for one day. Today's food list:
Breakfast: 2 slices of toast with 2 tsp margarine, 1/2 a peach, 6 oz of fat-free yogurt
Lunch: 1 oz of tuna with 1 cup cooked whole wheat pasta, 1 tsp mayo, large salad with vinegar and oregano (I can have pretty much all the lettuce I want), 1 cup green beans (in place of a fruit...there's a lot of fruit on this diet, and I don't like fruit that much)
Snack: 2 tbsp raisins
Dinner: 2 oz pork chop, 3 oz baked potato with 1 tbsp sour cream and 1 tsp margarine, 1/2 cup of broccoli and cauliflower (no butter)
Snack: 6 oz of fat free Greek style yogurt (plain), 1/2 cup of concord grapes, and 1/2 bagel
Wish me luck
