I am so sick of hearing about Christians being persecuted in the USA . It's just not true. I have read journals and OP's and there replies and it seems perfectly obvious that Christians do not like atheists. Some of the rudest comments I have ever seen come from women who claim to be Christians.

I was a religious person until I realized just how misogynistic and judgemental it all was in my opinion . I also changed my mind about religion as I learned more about it and it's history. The more I learned the more I knew it really wasn't something I could believe in . Why does that threaten christian people? What does it matter ? I have had people who find out I don't believe in the Bible and suddenly they see me completely differently. Friendships have ended because a person I called friend could not understand my being an atheist. I see cars with religious bumper stickers all the time but if an atheist were to put a bumper sticker on their car they would very likely have their car damaged byreligious vandals . Atheism is looked down on by many so called religious folks , people like myself hide our atheism because we are tired and sick of defending ourselves.

I honestly do not have an issue with other people believing in and loving jesus I just don't believe it myself. If you have a loving relationship with God then GREAT! I respect your ability to make religious choices for yourself  soooo why can't religious people respect mine? I am NOT saying that there are no religious people who can be respectful , I do have religious friends. I am only saying that imho all people calling themselves christians should be kind to others and not judgemental and cruel simply because a person believes differently. again I know it's NOT ALL Christians.

im sorry you have to hide your beliefs like that. isnt it funny how the commandment "love thy neighbor" gets so quickly forgotten when thy neighbor is different.. btw these words are coming from a christian. :)  i respect you and the way you believe or choose not to believe.  i wish i could say that everyone else believes the way i do (not as in Christian-i meant in respect and appreciation of religious differences.  have a great day

p.s. great journal  :o)

Well, I agree with you in that Christians in THIS country don't have a clue what true persecution is, YET.  We're not being beheaded for our faith, or dragged through the streets naked like one pregnant woman was in Pakistan, by islamic extremists.  When that starts to happen, then we'll talk.

But, it does kinda sound like you have an axe to grind because you've had a bad experience.  I'm sorry you have.  You shouldn't feel like you have to post anonymously though.  I've received, and read, some pretty rude, hateful comments by atheists, and even several muslim women, but, like you, I won't judge ALL of them by the actions of a few.

May I say GREAT POST!

And I couldn't have said it better myself, either...

Too bad some of the most egregious offenders are totally blind to their offensiveness.

While I agree pretty much with everything you said (say 99% of it), I must say that this whole entire cycle of going around on a non-stop (what seems to be anyways) ride of an argument has gotten REALLY old.

As is the Vax vs Anti-Vax fight. Not to mention the Bf vs. FF fiascos. And countless others.

There are women on here, such as my friend Vicky who needs support. Her son has just been diagnosed with Cancer and is now in the hospital recieving treatment. She is scared.

Why not send out the positive for a change. Or talk about your hopes for this upcoming school year (if you have a school-aged child).

This is true tericared, I don't either.  Especially from SOME people. I'm sure you KWIM. If you're playing clueless, I'm talking about those who intentionally look for people to stir up DRAMA because they're bored???  Or maybe just spiteful.

proudmomof 3 - please allow me to respond. I am a Big supporter of other people . I volunteer and always try and look for the positive. This  post was not about the "all" of CM and the beat to death topics it was about me having a bad day where my feelings were hurt specifically because someone I call friend realized my non-religious status and said hurtful things.but even that was not the entire catalyst but more the last straw. We are ALL Human Beings , lovely and fallible . I hope all people will try and remember that even when we act brave we all have feelings and we all have insecurities . We all deserve respect as well as to be judged based on what kind of friend we have been and what our actions are etc , to judge a person just based on if they are or are not a theist cuts everyone short is wrong. also imo it says more about the person judging . I hope this helps clear up what I am trying o get across.
