My friend had a post on her facebook today that really made me sick. You ladies will see it in a bit, but before you do- this is my opinion on everything. Keyword being "opinion".
First off- not to sound like a cold, heartless b*tch, but what's up with parents doing un-imaginable things to their own flesh and blood and receiving compassion? In this case, 'flesh and blood' meaning their children. You know, the ones we carry for nine long months. The infants that make it so hard for us to sleep during those last months of pregnancy. The ones we promise to take care of like wild animals- if we have to.
I've been noticing that every single time that a mom kills or hurts her child, everyone is so fast to call them out on their "diseases". For example, postpartum depression. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when a woman's baby trigger's a jumble of powerful emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. But it can also result in something you might not expect — depression. It also leads women to consider killing their infants and young children, not from anger, but from a desire not to abandon them. Or another example, being munchausen syndrome by proxy which is when a person acts as if an individual he or she is caring for has a physical or mental illness when the person is not really sick. People with MSP assume the role of a sick person indirectly by producing or lying about illness in another person under their care, usually a child under 6 years of age. So, why are most people so quick in calling these murders and terrible acts "diseases"? Why isn't it just considered a sick act of ridiculously ill people who deserve to be in jail with the rest of the world's sick and twisted?
It seems to me that our society almost makes it okay for some of these women to live with themselves. What the hell? I know for a fact that women do get postpartum depression, but that is no excuse to hurt or kill your child! I personally, suffered from this after I had my son, but never in a million years did I even consider hurting my baby. I can understand that women have mood changes after they have just given life to a human being, that I can understand. What I can't understand is women who get away from the guilt by blaming it on emotional disorders.
In the case of women who suffer from munchausen's- there is no excuse. So, a mother decides to hurt her child for the mere pleasure of attention, this is a cop-out, if you ask me. Some women even go as far as murdering their own- to gain worldwide attention. And you wanna know why? Cause society makes it a thrill for them. We have the tendency of feeling sorry for these sick freaks and it needs to stop.
In my opinion, child abuse laws need to be more strict. I say if a woman kills her child, she deserves no pitty and no ground for sympathy. She deserves to die! Not be put in a mental institution. How would we feel if a pedaphile were to suffer from some sort of "disease"? Would we say, hey dude- it's not your fault- you're just misunderstood and need to be treated for "whatever they feel like making up" Uhh yeah, I don't think so!!
So ladies, if any of you suspect child abuse- report it!! Don't wait til' it's too late! You could be the difference in a child's life and well-being.
If any of you women are suffering from severe mental instability- give your children to a trusted relative or friend, until you get your life together.
It's all about responsibility.

I cant agree with you more. I think that any person that abuses a child should pay a price, something more than a slap on the hand. It makes me sick.
i hope the other inmates found out what these freaks did. they don't have any 'illness', they are disgusting and they should not be allowed to live. RIP sweet angel.
I seen this on CNN the other night. The grandmother and the uncle should have got a hell of a lot more done to them cause they knew about the abuse for months. I think the mom knew about it also. On CNN they said the abuse was going on for the whole time the angel was alive. There was old bruises and new ones. The mom knew and that is just sick. The two men who done this to her raped her ALL night long. I feel so bad for that poor little girl. May she RIP
I agree with you. About your pedophile comment.... pedophiles actually are "sick". There is something horribly wrong with them mentally.... something that can not be fixed. Munchausens is one of those illnesses that there really is no correcting as well. So why on earth do we make excuses for those suffering from that... but not pedophiles? hmmmm... i think it has a lot to do with gender. You don't see the women who have sex with young boys being blasted nearly as much as males having sex with young girls. I think this is because society sees women ad gentle, nurtuting creaturs. To think a woman could be capable of such horrors... is well.... much to horrifying for us as a culture and society. Women are protectors, lovers, nurturers... compassionate, kinds, soft and gentle... so when one brutally murders a child..... we make excuses.... we have to put the blame on something else so we do not mar the image of "woman"
whoaaaa I am crying-my Husband is in tears....That is sick...The shitty thing is, they will be put in a 'special' part of prison so they won't have to be tortured like that little girl was...I'm sorry, but I believe you should die however you killed/tortured someone-these people are NO different. I pray that God will take care of them how they took care of this precious baby...

There is a difference between "baby blues," "post partum depression," and "post partum psycosis."
And it's not necessarily about "mood changes" but a change in the balance of chemicals in the body. So one is not dealing with a rational person that enjoys harming others, but one whose perception of reality has been altered. In the Yates situation, her perception of reality was that the devil was trying to harm her children, and the only way she could save them was to "send their souls to heaven;" she thought she was protecting her children. What I see as irresponsible, it that both the mentally healthy father, and the sometimes mentally health Andrea continued to have children dispite her obvious psychological imcompatibility with pregnancy and birth. It seems the "system" also failed to protect the children, when Yates was released from care dispite her husband's insistance that she was disturbed and still needed care.
"Sometimes confused with postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis is a different disorder and is much less common. Postpartum psychosis is also known as "postnatal stress disorder", because the patient is under emotional stress and exhibits unusual behavioral patterns not seen before their pregnancy or postpartum event. In clinical psychology it may also be diagnosed as a form of Brief Psychotic Disorder. The majority of cases occur within the first 2–4 weeks after childbirth with a classic 10–14 day meltdown, likely caused by the radical hormonal changes combined with neurotransmitter overactivity. When correctly diagnosed at the earliest signs and immediately treated with anti-psychotic medication, the illness is recoverable within a few weeks. If undiagnosed, even for just a few days, it can take the woman months to recover. In cases of postpartum psychosis, the sufferer is often unaware that she is unwell."
I don't see any relationship between PPD/PPS an d pedophiles who are well aware of the rules, but simply disregard them to satify their urges, or "disagree" with them and do their own thing anyway.
That is awful and I hope her "parents" get a special place in hell for this. That poor baby suffered her whole entire short little life. How could her own family do this to her?? What a bunch of losers! RIP little girl, your in Gods arms now, free from all the pain and suffering.
It's not so much disease like cancer or diabetes is a disease of body. I think of it as this: dis- ease. Dis ease.
Think of how much pain a person must be in that the only way they know how to release the pain is by hurting others. Think of what horror that person must have had inflicted on them in order to do that horrors to others. It's a dis-ease of the mind and emotions that in turn effects the body.
The people who hurt others have been hurt themselves. They lack the tools within themselves to get help and relieve the pain. So in order to get to the release valve to alleviate the pressure within themselves, they hurt others. Not the right way to go about it at all. However, I can only have compassion for them. Hope that they somehow find it within themselves to get help to release that presser valve that doesn't include hurting others. Especially a child.

Very sad that anyone could harm any child. I hope they are tortured every day till they die. That poor baby. I am crying now. I just can't imagine anyone going through something so horrific and to see and hear a baby had to endure this has just left me in tears. RIP baby girl. She is in a better place, she is back home.
