Well, here is my first post on CafeMom.  This site looks great, and I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon it before.  There are all kinds of great posts and information from current moms and moms who have gone before.  What an excellent resource!

Well, my world, probably like many on this website, is all about my kids.  I have 3 children right now and a fourth who is a due in a week.  Can you believe I'm blogging right now!!!  I love my kids.  I have a loving husband who takes care of us, and we are both Christians.  We are doing our best to raise our children to have the same faith that we do.  It can be difficult when you are competing with the world.  There are so many forms of media that vie for their attention.  While Curious George toys, Ben 10 action figures and my daughter's jewelry seems innocent, there is a subtle message sent to my kids every day that consumerism is important.  Coolness is important and so forth.  It makes it hard when TV shows Miley Cyrus up in lights all the time.  When you are trying to teach them that the last will be first in God's Kingdom, it's difficult from all the competition they see from TV, movies, and the internet.  Can anyone else relate?  I don't want to screen them off entirely, but I want them to see the world through the lens of the cross.  This is the great challenge I have as a mother.
