Would you like to see the damage an unruly cow named Ruly and a heavily wet summer can do to a tomato garden?

Warning: graphic scenes of a vegetative massacree ahead.

First, the damn cow.

Ruly has escaped twice over the past week, and both times he went to my tomato garden and trampled around, doing considerable damage and carnage to the plants themselves. Holy fricken hell, I am going to kick that cow's ASS! were my thoughts when I saw his night's work the following day.

When I planted this bed, I had about a dozen gorgeous, healthy, thriving plants. I had heirloom varieties, and varieties specifically for canning and sauces. We were expecting a bountiful harvest of happy tomato bliss.

Along came Ruly, the maddening, constantly escaping bull.

Now, the blight.

Despite the havoc that Ruly wrought, we still had loads of fat green fruit on the branches of the plants and we were hopeful that they would ripen up for us. Today I went out to harvest what I could. I was aghast to discover that up to 95% of the entire crop of tomatoes are rotting away on the vine. Green, red, on the ground, off the ground--rotting with black spot. I was horrified and really, really pissed off.

So out of all of my beautiful tomatoes, this is all I've got.

Perhaps this seems like a silly thing to be all mad about, but that's how I roll.

I won't really eat the stupid cow. I won't really curse anything. But, I am thinking of taking all those rotten tomatoes and pelting him in the backside with them.

Aww Joye, I weep for you and your tomatoes. I know how wonderful it is to grow them and eat them is beyond words. This would have upset me too. (I'm going to blame the sappiness on being pregnant, yup)

Ah yes, I do believe that pelting should ensue at once.  Should he turn around to protest said pelting, he should be pelted between his eyes.

Bummer, dude. All I have to say is, clearly you dissed a bull in some past life, and karma caught up in the form of Ruly.

I'm sorry about your tomatoes. That really sucks.
