Time was just getting away from me so I hoped this summer when we went to our cabin in Tennessee's Smokey Mountains, I'd have time to relax, catch up on e-mails, do fun things with my kids and visit family. I drove with the kids and my husband was to fly there later. We first stopped in Mississippi to see my in-laws. I also took the kids to Vicksburg which was really for Carson as he's suddenly got this big interest in the Civil War, especially the battles. We looked around as much as the girls would let us, some some re-enacting and he had to buy himself a Union army uniform. Might not sit well with all our Southern Family but he said that side was the 'right' side and I have to say, I really agree with him. I found the name of one of my ancestors that fought (on the Confederate) side and was made prisoner during the Siege of Vicksburg. The Park Ranger even could show me where his unit was camped. Apparently just a block away from the Walgreen's Pharmacy I was just at. I have to give them credit for being smart enough to set up next to a drug course in case any bullets got them, they could just hop over, get some bandages and Advil! (ha-ha)big smile mini

I also had to bring with me a box full of curriculum, my lesson plans and goals, one of our "uniforms" and such to show my MIL that we were serious about homeschooling and to make her more comfortable with it, although she wasn't giving us any flak about it, I could tell she was a little concerned. After the "presentation" she said she felt much better about it but the only thing she was worried about was how I've been sick so much lately, would I be able to handle it. I told her since getting diagnosed with Crohn's and getting on meds, I haven't had a flare up and my migraines were under control now that I had easy access to my neurologist in Houston. stick out tongue mini

After a week in Ms, we drove up to tennessee where DH had just arrived and was waiting for us.

The mountains were about 20 degrees cooler than Houston and as beautiful as ever. Just makes me feel good to look at them.angel mini
