The kids and I were supposed to leave a couple of weeks before DH, to drive to our cabin in the Smokey Mtns, taking a few days to stay with my in-laws that were half way there in Mississippi. However the nite before wer were to leave, I had a sudden , sharp, terrible pain on the brow bone above my left eye.It continued to hurt especially if I moved my head bu bending down up looking up. I though maybe it was a sudden sinus headache? maybe a new weirder migraine/. I went to bed and when I awoke in the am, my left eyeball was full of bright red blood! My eyelid was drooping and it was too painful to move my eye, to look to the left, right, up or down. DH saw it and freaked out. He drove me straight to my family practitioner who sent me straight to my neurologist because of the droopy eyelid, and he took my look and sent me an opthamologist in his same building stat. The opthamologist sent me straight over to the hospital next door to get an MRI of my head. Turns out a just ruptured a blood vessel for unknown reasons. She put me on antibiotic-steroid eye drops as well as oral meds. After a few days it cleared up on its own and I was ready to roll. ![]()
We spent our few days in Mississippi and then drove on up to TN where DH was waiting for us. The first few days were spent getting the place all opened up, taking walks in the woods, riding around in the "mule", chasing and catching insects and butterflies to study and let go, playing in the creek and catching crawdads, going to the Ocoee whitewater center to watch the kayakers and for Smokey Bear's birthday party, visit with my dad etc.. We even made a trip to Dollywood. But that night I was having a lot of back pain, like I did in India before we left, and the night after, I was in so much pain, DH took me into the hospital, I ended up being hospitalized on Aug 8, trying desperately to control the pain and clear out my bowels. After a week, they did clear out, but the pain wasn't stopping. I would feel just fine in the morning but by afternoon I would be crying and pacing the floors. I even got discharged one day, got my IV out and was dressed and ready to go when it hit again. I was devastated. My family's entire vacation was ruined. I was getting to see family though, because they'd come visit me. My in-laws came up from MS to help with the kids while my dad and dh and sister would stay with me or try to amuse the kids for hours to make sure I was okay. I was a very hard IV stick and my hands were all black and blue. The second time i was discharged, we stopped and got my prescriptions filled but before we could get up on the mountain, I had another attack. I went back to the Dr's office just writhing in pain. The pain is like hard last stages of labor, with that "bear down" feeling but unlike contractions, it did not stop. The dr sent me to the University of Tennessee medical center in Knoxville. I spent a night in the ER there, but the next day, DH put me and my oldest daughter on a plane back to Houston. A car met us to take me straight to my GI doctor who had me admitted right away. I was finally released two days ago, just in time for my birthday.![]()
DD#1 was an absolute angel, helping me in the hospitla, washing my clothes and bringing fresh, making over me about how much she wanted me well, helping with the little kids etc.. She was a big support. My mother came up to our house and they were here when DH arrived with the little kids. But DD up and did somthing totally out of character. It's breaking my heart, but all I can do is wait and pray. Right now I'm not strong enough to do anything if I could, but I'm hoping she'll come to her senses on her own pretty soon. ![]()
I'll be glad when all this is over but I'm trying to be positive. A huge load has been but on my husband and he already has a very demanding job, but he has treated me like a queen and does everything he can to make me comfortable. The twins are even being good and not fighting or arguing and my mom has been great being here with us. So I'm just being patient knowing "this too shall pass".![]()
