another kindergarten class opened at my school today. A ""pink-slipped" teacher was rehired to teach it. I am happy for her but want to know why my seniority in the school district counts for nothing? I was moved from kindergarten to 6th this year. If another K reopened, why wasn't I allowed to move back? I am really depressed and demoralized. Unfair. The school district cares about us? Yeah, right.

Yes be grateful you have a job. So many of us don't. Besides there maybe a student that is in need of you this year. God has something special in store...watch and see. :)
I am very grateful to have a job. And it is not a chance to show how capable I am. I have taught 6th before. I have 19 years of teaching. They know my capabilities. It's the idea that my seniority does not seem to matter. What is the use? Other teachers were given choices as to where they would be placed this year. I was told, in the school courtyard as my administrator walked by, "Oh, yeah, I am putting you in 6th grade as there is no where else to put you." It was her final f-you to me before she left our school last year to take position elsewhere. In my last evaluation, she wrote how perfect kindergarten was for me - how I'd found my niche. Then she puts me in 6th grade. I have moved grade levels numerous times in 19 years. I am very capable. But wouldn't it be nice if I could be comfortable in a grade also?
Please do not misunderstand that I know I am very blessed with my job and family and home. I am sure that God has me in 6th grade for a reason. I just wish he'd let me know or give me a hint or the first letter or something...

Why are you complaining at least you still have a job. And look at like this the pink-slipped chick may have not been as qualified as you to teach the sixth grade. You should be glad that you are being given the chance to show what you are really capable of.
