So the way Asher's kindergarten works is you drip your kid off at the front of the school and they walk themselves in and to their class. I don't like this because he's only in kindergarten and gets lost easily. Plus what if some pervert grabs him? I would pitch a fit about it but my mom works there (not as a teacher though) so she is allowed to walk him back to his class each morning. Well today took the cake!!! I came to pick him up today. The way you pick your child up is you are given a paper w/ the schools name and your child's name on it. They bring you kid to the front of the school and put him in your car and you drive on. Guess what happen today? They put the wrong freakin' kid in my car!!!!!!! Can you believe that crap? My God what if I was a pervert and just drove off with him? Just as he was putting his foot in the car I turned around and said, "Um that's not my kid!" the woman looked shocked, asked who my kid was and went and got him. Ok, so i can find a little humor in this only because it wasn't my kid that they gave to someone else...had that happen they would have had hell and then some to deal with. My father is a alcoholic, unmediated bi-polar, who is obsessed with me, my children, my sister, and my sister's child. What if he cam and took him? I'm quietly freaking out right now!
I sent a note to Asher's teacher asking if I could personally come in and pick him up from now on, I told her what had happened. When i came to pick up Asher the principle personally walked him to the car and she came and apologized for what happened and that they're still learning the kids names and it will not happen again. She said I know he's your baby and that must have been really scary. So we'll see, hopefully this will work and I won't take home another kid.

OMG I hope they pay more attention since this happened. I would be freaked out also. I had to pick my son up from school because of tutoring last year and he tried to get into someone Else car. I honked my horn and yelled his name then he just looked like huh...
And the child didn't say he was getting in the wrong car either?? That is more scary for those parents! I know my kids would have voiced that is NOT MY MOMMY!
Honey, I almost took the wrong kid home from the library :)~ This was last winter. My son was standing with his back to me, so all I saw was the back of his jacket (hood up) & I took his hand & started walking away. About that time, I saw my real son standing near the doors. I stopped dead & just stared at this poor kid that I was taking off with. I walked him back the few steps we took & saw his mother & her response was "Darn, I guess I don't get a free babysitter tonight". Then she chuckled & said she wondered how far I would get before he protested. If someone had been walking off with my kid I would have thrown a fit!
As for the school, I would mention it to the teacher and/or pricipal so that the staff will be made aware of it & can monitor more carefully.
That seems like such a good system... I would have been alarmed too! Poor kid should have piped up... "hey that is not our car" things like this make me glad my kids are not super shy, lol. I am glad it all worked out and yes you should definately talk to the principal.
omg i don't know what i would have done if that was my kid, honestly! thats no excuse! if you are still learning the names either wear name tags or have a book with pictures next to their names!!
OMG I would be very upset and i woul be letting the school board knoe about this ...I dont know if they still have PTA meetings But if they did I would for sure bring this subject up and let them have it...When it comes to kids I have a NO TORLENCE RULE!!...fern
My best friend went to pick her son up one day, year before last (2nd grade), and he was standing out beside a small road that parents drive down to pick their kids up (and it is beside the 4-lane). He had a substitute that day, and she had just let him go. It was about 20 minutes before school even let out.
