Leading Freelancing website/blog www.freelancingswitch.com reports in their 2008 survey that most professional freelancers (writers, designers, photographers, project specialists, illustrators, etc.) earn between $44 and $68/ per hour.  That's pretty a good rate especially when you factor in the fact that you're working from home so you have little to no travel or clothing costs.  PLUS - you're working for yourself!
