Just a wk and a 1/2 earlier we had a suprize birthday celebration for both of my grandparents since they both had birthday's in Aug. My dad had to break the suprise to my grandma since she wasn't eating much and made more of an effort by learning the news of our coming. I called my grandma on her bday to say happy bday and my grandfather says that she was in the hospital since last sat. In his words she wasn't doing what she was supposed to (trying to eat more). I was shocked at the news. She was going to the ER because she couldn't catch her breath and her chest felt tight. I had a homework assignment for her to get her heavily weasing checked out the last day I saw her on our visit. Since being in the hospital we found out this week that my grandma is at the end stage 3 beginning stage 4 of lung cancer. She's lost a lot of weight in the last couple of months down to105. She said she had a hard time eating or couldn't think of eating and she felt this was not normal since she loved food. The thought of it "made her ill". I am the closest out of the grandkids and it kills me that I am the farthest away. Today I spoke with my 91 yo grandfather who has surpassed all odds is going crazy trying to take care of her. Something he hasn't had to do before since she has always taken care of him. I felt bad cause no one is there to help him take care of things and he feels he can't get anything done. I know my grandmother has lived 85 years and has had a good life, I just hate the thought of not being able to call her up on the phone to tell her the lastest thing my daughter has done. I am so greatful to have had the opportunity to see her and have them see my family at least one more time before they both go. Dr's give my grandmother 6 mo or less and my grandfather 6 mo to a yr since they put in his pacemaker. I will miss them greatly and try to stay as strong as I can when I talk to them on the phone. Lord willing He will keep them when it is time. I need all the prayers I can get.
