I have reached the conclusion that allergy season is completely and totally unfair.

Ya know when your kids have a cold and they're way too stuffy to sleep BUT they're also sick and their body is CRAVING sleep so it kind of balances out, at least a little?  No such luck with allergy season.  Oh noooo.  What you end up with is a child who is so stuffed up that he can hardly breathe (let alone sleep) but doesn't really feel sick so is pretty okay with the whole idea of never sleeping again.  EVER.  Why sleep when you can...

watch Wow Wow Wubzy at 4 AM?  Nevermind that it's the same episode that you watched when you were up at midnight.

rip up a huge pile of snotty tissues while mom and dad are trying desperately to get you to fall asleep in between them in bed.

share in the goodness of the giant bowl of chocolate chips that your mom is stress eating at 2 AM.

act like the chocolate chips might make you barf to the point where mom puts a towel on your lap.  Decide that you DON'T feel like barfing, but rip up and eat every loose piece of string you can find from said towel.

keep rubbing your tummy like it hurts until mom gets you some Sprite.  Then shake your cup until it explodes everywhere.  (Sprite + sippy cup + shaking = Spritecano)

make sure that you rub your hands all in the Spritecano and rub it all in your hair until it's nice and sticky.

have a good giggle at mom and dad while they're screaming at each other about whose turn it is to sleep for an hour. Toddler plot to turn them against each other through lack of sleep-induced-madness?  Check.

throw the worlds biggest temper tantrum when Oobi comes on at who knows what hour in the morning (have lost ability to tell time at this point).  You don't like this show, you've never seen it before, and just because you're 3 years old doesn't mean that you're going to be amused by a hand with some eyes glued on it.

as the sun begins to rise, pretend like you are finally getting sleepy.  When mom or dad thinks you might finally be zonked out and attempts to move you back to your bed, jump up with your eyes wide open making "blah blah blohhhhh BLEEHHHH!" noises.  Those suckers.

At 10 AM, when you have kept everyone up for a full 48 hours, decide that you feel perfectly fine again and look around confusedly when no one is enjoying Blues Clues with you the way that they normally do.

heeeeere's the mail it never fails it makes me wanna wag my tail, when it comes I wanna wail MAIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Please send help.

Oh honey.... I see that you are up (interpret as "still awake" after never having slept at all!!!). Get that lazy (not fair and should be helping) husband of your up and get some sleep. After you wake up, call me and we will go get coffee together. So sorry about all this but doesn't this mean that he HAS to sleep tonight? Call me optomistic girl. Call me when you wake up.  Love you, MOMdo not disturb

Katie, you are so damn funny!  How you manage that on NO sleep is a mystery...I wish I could watch Blue's Clue's at ungodly hours with Brody while listening to you snore.  I would, ya know.

(((HUGS)))  Hang in there babe.

WHY don't all of you wonderful potential babysitters friends live closer?  SOOO unfair!

Well, it finally dawned on my genius ass that Brody has been on the same allergy med for over 2 years and that it had probably stopped working.  I switched him to Claritin tonight and knock on wood, so far he is sleeping away peacefully.

I so feel your pain!!!  I have a three-year-old allergy son, too!  Personally, I LOVE Zyrtec!!!  He's been on it all year so far, and it's working great.  Has a mild sedative side-effect though - he only gets it at bedtime!!!

Hoping you get some sleep, but you're still hilarious exhausted!!!
