I usually like my journals to be centered around the boys and filled with fun pics taken by my sister, but I felt the need to unload this somewhere and I guess the thrill of having my laptop back lead me to the computer!! LOL!

Starting in May, Jason (my hubby) starting complaining about his back hurting again. This is a annual occurrance and will usually put him out of work for a week or so. Well, we decided to take his vacation week for him to heal up (which is how he always spends his only week of vacation EVERY year). This ended up not being enough, and he missed more work trying to keep it from getting too bad.

I got a call from my Dad on June 7th that my Papaw was having severe chest pains, and I had to get my mom down there fast. I gathered my boys up out of the tub and ran to my mom's house to get her down to my Papaw's house to wait for the squad. (We had to get there, bc Papaw was babysitting my youngest sister, and he lives next to my parents' business that they had to lock up to wait with him through all this.) Well, long crazy story...I end up having my in-laws get my boys and working at the store. By the time I get home...Jason was there in bed, home early from work in ALOT of pain.

In the middle of the night, he was sweating and moaning. I couldn't get a coherent answer out of him. By the morning I talked him into going to the ER. This was June 8th. I have NEVER been SO MAD, as I was leaving the ER that first time. The ER doctors treated Jason like a lazy, fat, drug seeker. Two different guys breezed in, lectured him about "living better" and gave him a 'script for ibuprophen 400mg!!!!!!!AUGH!!!!!! He couldn't even stand up straight and walking was killing him. It took 20mins for me to get him in the van to leave!

By 2am June 9th, Jason was moaning and muttering things to God, banging his bed on the door. He was starting to really scare me. I called to get my sister to stay with the boys, and my Dad to help my get Jason in the van. I would ask Jason to go to the ER and he would mutter something about teeth??? But he let me dress him, and let Dad aid him to the van.

That ride into the ER was the scarest event of my life. Jason was in so much pain that he was literally out of his mind. He was begging and talking to God. At times he would scream out, and sometimes he was quiet. One point, he noticed I was there and he said "NO WHEELCHAIRS!" I'm not real for sure why?? I think maybe he didn't want to have to sit down and get back up?? It takes 1/2hr to get to the ER, and it felt like hours. Later, Jason told me he wanted to just die, and if it was to happen again he just would...... ... ?   I was going to FORCE the ER docs to do something or threatening every legal action I could think of..which honestly, is limited..but I am loud if nothing else!

This time however, a different doctor took care of us, and got some serious drugs going through an IV.....which Jason was unaware of even going in. (His first IV ever, first narcotics ever...so much for the drug-seeking behavior the first ER doc was worried about!!!)

Well, that was just the first couple days. Jason ended up wrote off work for almost 3mths...and so far has managed only to fight with Workman's Comp and a gazillion "bad guys" on the XBOX! LOL!! We haven't really been able to get too many answers. The only solid thing we have heard is that the CAT scan (to check for kidney stones, which he didn't have) showed that the discs between his vertebrates are gone and have, overtime, rubbed together to form spurrs. Then, the muscles in his back have grated up against these spurrs and causes alot of painful swelling. It started in May, but just got unbearable by June.

After this, I started running around trying to get paperwork in for financial assistance (Jason is our main provider, and we were already behind because of the time of in May to heal) Also, taking Jason to the doctor, workman comp crap, looking for jobs, taking all the work I could. I NEVER got to see the boys, and Jason needed waited on hand and foot. The first couple weeks I had to figure out food he could eat laying flat on his back, which is harder than you think. Plus, he is going on 400lbs, and I had to get him in and out of the shower(the hot water helped him) and off and on the toliet. Turning over in bed required assistance and was very painful. The one pain medication that helped him, his family doc wrote on a generic RX pad and we had to go the whole first weekend without it!!! I was furious!! The pharmacy and the doc got into a big cat-fight over the legality of it on Monday.

He has recently started back to work, and we are holding our breath that his back will hold out until he can get another job or do something to that will eliminate that "flair-up" again. We have had alot of prayers, and my family has really stepped up with help. His Mom and Dad had the boys a good bit in the beginning too. I thank God for watching over us, and helping me maintain some sanity. I don't think either of the boys really noticed how miserable we were...and that is really saying something!! LOL!!
