Today is day one hundred fifty seven of school being back in session. I sit here dazed and dumbfounded...my house is totally destroyed. Do any of you remember the show Lost in Space? Not that I am old enough to have watched the show when it was on, but...Okay, I lie. Anyway, there was a robot aptly named Robot. For most part the robot was friendly, especially to Will Robinson, but every once in a while something would happen and he would go on a mission of destruction; repeating in his robo voice: I-must- destroy-I-must-destroy. I honestly believe my children have those same issues that drove poor Robot into a machine of mass destruction; crossed circuit wires, some kind of freak universal force field, a plot of some mad scientist to throw over the world-something! That can be the only explanation for my children's actions, right?
I wish I had the strength to take a picture of my surroundings because words just can not do justice to what I am seeing at the moment. The closest depiction would be the aftermath of a nuclear bomb perhaps. Spilled cereal and milk, banana peels, apple cores, 2 dumped shoe boxes (six kids, times at least ten pairs of shoes for each child, with two shoes per pair, equals...uh, I don't know because my brain has lost too many vital brain cells this morning!), scattered papers, clothes strewn about...Shoot, is that somebody's lunch left behind? Make that two somebodies-sigh.
I don't even know where to begin, so I have decided the best route to go is simply live in blissful denial. Excuse me while I go crawl in a fetal position, close my eyes and just wish it all a way...
Comments:
Blissful denial...good call! ;-) I'm so sorry...I think "clean-up" should begin AFTER school or maybe just leave it and do it all on Saturday? Could you all go 5 days without cleaning? Ahhh, never-mind. ;-)
You said...clothes my eyes --Poor Mommy!
Yeah I understand the feeling. What is worse is when you stayed up later than planned getting it straightened up for the morning and then it's destroyed as soon as they are out of bed.
Wasn't it better when they were sleeping til noon??? Now they are back to school and everything goes by the way side...So goes our lives.
Life is whats happening while we're busy making plans!!!!
Have a better night!!
xo
So, did denial work??? I am convinced that the less time kids spend at home the bigger the messes!
