As a glasses wearer my whole like (since I was five), finding a story about eyeglasses in National Geographic caught my eye.  Sure, these ones look a little strange, but the concept is incredibly practical, and hopefully anyone in the world who needs glasses, can get some!

You can read the story here on Scientific American.  Basically, anyone who needs glasses can make this pair adjust to their own prescription strength.  A button adjusts the amount of oil pushed into the sacs comprising the lens.  The oil serves to change the shape of the lens, which clears the vision of anyone wearing them.  The image below is from cleveland.com.

How cool...lol.  Hopefully these will evolve into something more fashionable looking.....not just for the needy but for everyone.  To bad it has a needy symbol on it.  Seems like it could be more practical as eyesight changes for everyone and is why we get yearly check ups right?

SammyJake - me too!  Instead of moving my computer screen back and forth, I could adjust my glasses.

Pretty cool!  Though my glasses prescription is -5.75 dipoters so I am pretty close to them not working for me.  LOL
