Hello, I have a 3 year old who "hopefully" will be starting preschool shortly. I have the open house on Thursday 9/3, but he may not be able to go. I started potty training over this past weekend (I am always trying, but he never wants to, this time he has wanted to). There are many plus' for him and few negatives. I am not sure how to speak to the school about this, especially in a way to ensure that they will let him go, as well as how to help my son. Okay, here I go:
We have been potty training for less than 1 week (today is day 4 I believe)
He had 2 days where he had 2 pee accidents each day. On both of these days he did 1 bowel movement in the potty.
He had a day where he had no pee accidents, but had 1 bowel movement accident.
The above is the same again for today so far.
He is 3 years and going on 5 months.
He is staying dry all night long.
We will go out for 3-4 hours at a time and he can stay dry the whole time. If he needs to go he tells me. Yesterday we went to the store and he had to go, but they did not have a bathroom, and he leaked a very tiny amount by the time we got home (which was close to 20 minutes later) and he went pee on the potty as soon as we got home.
He is very excited doing pee in the potty and wearing underwear during the day. I put him in training pants at night ... hubby thinks that is best since he hasn't been trained even a week, and my reason for thinking that is best is because we don't have a washer and drying here, I have to go to the laundry mat, and though he has been staying completely dry, if he has 2 bad nights then he has no more sheets for his bed.
The main issue that I see, if having a bowel movement in the potty. He shows that he is scared and uncomfortable with it.
I need help! How can I make it easier for him to have a bowel movement in the potty? I have tried bribbing him with his favorite snacks like m&m's, and it does not work. I also need serious advice on how to talk to the school about this on Thursday. He will only be going for 1/2 day preschool and I really want him to go.

Start with the school personnel. Some centers teach potty training, others want children already potty tained.
Making a BM in the toilet is truly an "odd" thing for us humans. It's (sitting) not a natural position for this thing.....(think mammals here)
BM's are a BIG part of a tiny person's life. Having them in the toilet can be, again ODD.... and it's another lesson in "Who's in control" (that starts with feeding)
OK, some scattered thoughts I had. Now, this is what I've found on the internet:
