The votes have been tallied and it is unanimous...I AM MOTHER OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, not really. In fact, someone may call soon for my resignation in the role of mother.
This morning was like my worst nightmare, heart pounding, screaming, hands clammy and shaking...no matter how hard I tried I couldn't wake up! Sadly, It was *really* my wide awake world that was tumbling down around me and there wasn't a thing I could do except panic and yell.
The set up for today actually began yesterday. We had cross country, two soccer practices and a soccer game. My ds (8) lost a book at the park and was crying and grieving the loss. I felt so bad, I went back to the park and searched some more. I didn't find it, but a friend and her children were also there and ended up finding it later. Dinner was after 8:00, which my in-laws were attending because they went to the soccer game with us...homework, reading, and bedtimes were much later! Some of the kids did not get their much needed hygiene moment last night because of the time, which meant they needed showers and baths before school. Enter this morning!
Today is school picture day! That in itself is a good reason to be extra stressed, between trying to get children photogenically ready and making the dreaded decision of which package to get and filling out the paperwork and checks. Oh, and I can't write just one check, they each need individual payments! Yes, I know I should have filled it out earlier, but I literally did not have those extra moments at another time!
Today is also the day that 3 of the kids had their homework folders due. I hope the two older girls had their assignments finished because they are on their own!SIGH. That means, all reading and math logs must be filled out and extra assignments completed. We are great about doing the reading and assignments, filling the information on the logs, not so great. So, I frantically tried to fill in the pertinent information on all the forms, fill in the picture orders, write out the meaning of the words to the pledge of allegiance for my ds who has a test TODAY, but forgot his notes at school...nothing like the last minute!
I'm not sure which of my children ate breakfast, brushed their teeth or washed their faces. I never saw three of my children actually leave the premises, I just assumed they were gone when they didn't answer. Unless there was an avalance and they are buried under the mountain of laundry, their replies muffled...
Two of the kids missed the bus, giving me another opportunity to showcase my multi-colored cat pajamas. I had to wake my youngest and get him into his car seat, only to discover the base was not hooked. No time! I placed him in my dd's booster seat instead. I started to suspect at this point that I was on Candid Camera.
My windows would not clear of condensation, no matter how hard I tried, so I had to drive with my windows rolled down, giving everyone the opportunity to see my psychotic episode LIVE!
My ds could not find my cliff notes for him to study his test! Why do I even bother? I tried to quiz him, but he was getting frustrated. All I can do now if pray! Sigh.
Two squirrels ran out in front of me (what is with the squirrels with the death wish!), one crossed and the other would stop and go, stop and go...COME ON SQUIRREL, MAKE MY DAY! I mumbled in my best Clint Eastwood impression.
I drove the "back way" to the school, which would be quicker on a normal day. But, as we all know today is not one of those...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone had put a gate up and I couldn't enter! I had to drive around the high school, go back to the road and try to make a left hand turn into the elementary school parking lot, waiting on the million cars going right that had come in the correct direction.
My poor dd's hair was still dripping wet from her bath and the front of her shirt was saturated. Sigh. At least she was clean, except for her milk mustache on her face, which I had to give a quick spit bath. I practically threw her out the van, crying to her RUN!!!!!!!!! I noticed both of her shoelaces were flapping freely in the wind...I guess I should just be thankful she was wearing shoes. I wonder if my other children were so lucky?
And now I am back home. I see that my 4-year-old is drinking chocolate milk and eating a piece of candy while watching Dora. At least I have evidence that one of my children has had something to eat and drink today. Sigh.
I guess there is really nothing left for me to do except sit here and wait for my Mother of the Year Award to arrive...did you vote for me?
Comments:
You are the mother of the year for sure!!! I voted for you!!! lol...Again I know my day is coming soon...only 7 days until my kids go back to school.....It seems like the summer is NEVER going to end!!!
Oh and those dam squirrels!!!! DOn't they know that we don't have the time to play their games in the morning??!?!?!? Make up your mind and get out of our way!!....
I so feel your pain. Ok, maybe not quite. I only have two in school but that is hard enough. School starts at 8:38 this year and it is blissful. We are use too school starting before 8 am . last year they had to catch the bus at 7:30 !! It's crazy !! And God forbid they are late. I mean the school actl like I have committed treason against the United states if they are 15 min late . And what is with teacher taking it as a personal insult if I forgot too sign thier all important class rules green sheet? When lexi was in kindergarten she forgot her backpack two days in a row once. The teacher called me that night too make sure things were "OK" at home. WHAT ?? I wanted to scream no they are not ok. My child has to be to school at 7:45 and Mommy is not a morning person! She hates her homework and you insist on sending home 3 pages each night. So we are up late fighting with eachother about it , and she wasn't in bed until 10. So this morning I couldn't pry her lifeless body out of bed and when I did, we were so rushed we forgot the backpack !!
ok , I am done ranting. btw- I have sent a wet child to school once or twice.
LOL!! I WOULD vote for you...what a morning! Hope you have some "down" time before they all come back! :-)
We go back in 7 days, and then I will know just what you mean. I have 3 that will be in school... 1 in Jr. high and 2 in elementary. Then a toddler, and I pick-up my brother from his job at FedEx around 8am Tues-Sat. *sigh*
I am lucky on a couple of accounts: school picture order forms got mailed to us last week from the photographer. They need to be submitted with payment to the photographer by sometime next week. I don't actually order pictures... the elm. kids get a free class, and my older one gets his taken for yearbook. The same company does soccer pictures.... for soccer I put a note in one telling them the team name/child/check # etc and put in only 1 check... I did the same for class pictures when I had to order them.... They would b great about it too... mark the ones paid and the check #..... Then count #2, I am close enough where if my kids miss the bus they walk...
