I have been weird all my life. I don't think I'll outgrow it, either. I'm going to be a weird old lady, one day. Hopefully, I'll have a weird little old man by my side but I doubt it.
When I'm around other people, I say and do strange things that didn't seem like they'd be so bizarre in my thought process for the nanosecond the urge flitted across my brain. I make jokes that only I laugh at while people give me looks. I get confused easily about things that wouldn't have confounded styrofoam and I blurt out goofy statements that really don't put my mental capabilities in a positive light.
I've always, always been like this. I don't have a lot of friends. Even the people who have known me for years and years don't really have much to do with me anymore; I'm just too weird. At least, I think that's the trouble. Maybe I'm stinky.
When I was a child, I was completely socially inept. Now as an adult, I have found my social circle swings best around other oddballs and misfits. They are hard to find, which is why a network like Cafemom is great because I can ferret out the other weirdos scattered across the countryside. Strange people like us feel very misunderstood and out of place a lot. But when we get together, we always have a real good time.
Yee haw!
Embrace your weirdness.

Yeah, I feel ya. I'm pretty weird myself. I listen to weird music. I'm nerdy. I have zero friends because I'm too scared to talk to people because I just KNOW I'm gonna say something stupid. You would think that having a husband who's a tattoo artist I would have plenty of weirdo friends, but all his friends and associates are just so funny and interesting and good-looking that I'm sure I don't stack up. So I stay completely silent when we're around them, making me look like an even bigger freak. Even here on CM I usually can't get anyone to talk to me. I suck. And I'm having a depressing day so that doesn't help either. LOL
be your self youll find people just like you and then have a good time. if they dont like it owell. be you.
Joye, I think you're awesome... so I guess that makes me weird too. But I already knew that...
Yes! I can relate. I am often misunderstood by many of my old friends. I'm fortunate that we can come on a site like this and hook up with women who share our interests and passions.
I disagree with one part of your post though...you will meet a weird little old man to grow old with :-)
Um...I get that you're weird. It's one of the things I enjoy so much about you! I can totally relate to you because I have a weird streak a mile wide. I camouflage it well in real life. But here, I can let it all out. I hug and kiss your wacky self now...XOXOXOXO
Don't you love the awkward pause after you say something that you didn't think was weird (or at least THAT weird)? It's a special moment!
It's nice to know that there are other weirdo's out there as well, although I think I am particularly lucky having come from a rather weird family. I would give examples but some of them are just to odd and really it would take to long!
All we can do is embrace it!
