I use to have the boys do their school work at the dining room table... However, I have decided this year I would reclaim my dining room table and designate one room upstairs as our homeschool room. This way, if the books/papers, etc., are not put away just so, I can close the room and still feel good about having unexpected company show up for a visit. Don't you just HATE to scramble frantically in an effort to clean quickly??? I DO!
Here are some before and after pictures of our school room....

For us, this is a drastic change! It took a week to patch holes in the walls, sand the patches, clean baseboards, edge, and then paint walls and ceiling. All the furniture and most of the pictures are either hand-me-downs, or garage sale finds.
Earlier this year, we had a roof leak with a lot of damage to the former NASA mural; this is the reason for the change in the wall image to antique maps. Not only that, I think the map motif is a lot warmer and homier. I hoped to create an environment the children like to spend time during study hours.
I hope this has given you good ideas for your own learning space.
Blessings,
Kathryn
