Bad things happen in sets of three.  Isn't that how it goes?

Previously I wrote about how my sitter quit on me.  Ends up that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Saturday night I found out my dad passed away.  He wasn't my real father, but to me he was my one and only dad.  He met my mother sixteen years ago.  He raised me as his own daughter.  Dad was a simple man.  He never made a big deal out of things that were for him.  He loved his old cars, his boots and his cowboy hat.  He made friends everywhere he went.  He could get along with anyone.  He doesn't want a service, nor does he want to be burried.  He always said, "Put me in my black t-shirt and jeans.  Throw on my boots and hat and set me to fire.  Don't cry when I'm gone.  Celebrate, I'm in a better place."

My friend took me out Sunday to celebrate as he would want me to do.  I did something very stupid.  I got on a trampoline after having a few drinks.  Yeah, what a bad mistake.  I sprained my ankle.  I'm sure Dad is laughing at me now.  It's not a good feeling to be laid up and not able to do the things you want on your own.  You take for granted that independence you have until you loose it.

I remember Sunday's in Texas.  Mom always had to work.  Dad and I would hit the flea markets in Lubbock.  Come home to make a ham and pepper cheese sandwich with a side of freetos and a coke to drink.  We would sit down together infront of the TV to watch westerns.  We would spend the day watching movies with Clint Eastwood, Arnold Swartzenegger (sp), Chuck Norris and a few other others from that era.  Those were good times.  I remember one spring break he would took the week off and we raided the local movie store and rent six movies at a time.  Spend the day watching them all, return them the next day and do it all over again.  He introduced me to roller coasters.  OMG it was such a blaste.  Mom didn't like roller coasters, so she would wait down at the bottom for us and watch.  Then we would hit the water rides to cool off.

Dad you will be missed so very much.  Rest in peace and god be with you.
