Britt's Blankets: A Schur Way to Warm Nana's and Papa's is a high school senior service project that was started by my daughter. After the tragic death of Bay City, Michigan 93 year old WWII Veteran, Marvin Schur, my daughter wanted to make a difference and do something to honor this man. Mr. Schur died of hypothermia in his home after the Bay City Electric Company put a limiter on his electric meter. (They do this when a customer is behind on their electric bill) no one spoke to Mr. Schur when they put the notice on his front door. Sadly, when he was found by his neighbor, there was a little over $1,000.00 found on his kitchen table. He had over $600,000.00 in the bank that was willed to the local hospital. So it can be speculated that he had every intention on paying the bill, but just didn't get the chance to do so.

She's started a blanket drive and is collecting new and used blankets for the elderly in our county. If there's any blankets left over then they plan on donating to other agencies that help the less fortunate.

My daughter invited her best friend to join her and help with the project. Trust me when I say, the girls families are very proud of them. And they should be very proud of themselves.

Please check out their website and drop them an encouraging message on their guest book. Let them know where ya heard about them at. Cafe Mom, Surfin' the web, Local newspaper article, etc.

http://www.brittsblankets.com/ is their website. Unfortuantly, you won't get any searches from anywhere except Google. The company that we have the site through has been difficult to work with.

Thank you for your time!
