For the last month Ive been super excited to see my brother from Portland. The kids were excited, my parents and grandparents were excited. Well it would seem that marriage, and living across the country for so long has quite changed him and hes not the same brother that ive always known. He used to be super down to earth and really caring of other people. Im not sure what has happened (but im beginning to think its his new wife hes been married to for a year now) but hes now a pretty selfish indivisual with some radical views. Him and his wife are totally against coorparate buisnesses, which is fine if they want to feel that way but here is the deal. My mom has some pretty bad stomach problems. While they were there she ate something that really bothered her stomach and made it swell up. She was out of medicine at the time as well. She cant drive her self so she asked them to take her to Walmart so she could get something to help her because she was in alot of pain. They told her no that they didnt support walmart at all. She told them they didnt have to go in that they would wait in the parking lot but they refused. So she called me and I ended up taking her. (I love walmart!) Than, my mom had taken off of work for a whole week to spend time with them. Do you know how many days they spent at her house the week? 2!! They came in, went to sleep the first night, slept till 1 pm, got up and left for a 3 hour walk. Than they all went to my 70 year old grandmothers where they spouted their political views to her (which i wont get into) and ended up really hurting her feelings. The next day they were there they slept till 1 pm again and than got up and left to go to Athens Georgia right away. Where they stayed until Saturday. On Sunday we all took the boys gem mining in NC. Which they had a blast by the way. But while we were there they were in a big rush to get back to SC because they had to go to Greenville that night. So we were rushed the whole time. We went to the indian resveration (cherokee) and on the way there we stopped at a mcdonalds, and again, they spouted off that it was coorparated and wouldnt come in with everyone. We had about 10 minutes to walk around Cherokee before they started bitching that they had to go. I was really dissapoionted in them. They really hurt every ones feelings but mostly my mom and dads. Might I add with this whole coorparate BS they got going on, my brothers wife, has an apple lap top, and Ipod, and a blackberry phone. She works for enterprise car rental, and my brother smokes camel cigerrettes...Hmmmm. Trendy I suppose? I call BS and they just wanted to upset everyone. Pfft..Either way, I lost alot of resprect for my brother this last week. He used to be the sibling that I really enjoyed and looked up too.. Now im just..I dunno.

Holy shit. So if your mother was dying of pain your bro would just let her die basically. I would've said something. Apparently your bro seems to have lost any respect for you and your family, caring only for him and his wife. If it were me, I'd pretty much tell him to stay on his side of the country until he regains his "original" senses.
It's one thing to have a position on political views and such, but when you hurt you're family (especially physically), that crosses the line.
I'm so sorry that happened. That's fine if he now has different views than the rest of the family, but really? They could tone it down when they visit. What was the point of coming back to visit anyway, if they were just going to be jerks? Sheesh. And your poor mom... how inconsiderate to refuse to take her. I know how it feels though to have disappointing visits. My parents do that to us when they come visit us here. They seem to have better things to do than see us. They come for the weekend and talk about all the great things we'll all do and we really only end up seeing them for a few hours the entire weekend... sometimes family sucks. Hopefully this is just a phase with your brother and he'll snap out of it. He and his wife sound like a lot of people out here though. And then when you call them out on their hypocrisy they get all huffy about it... it is so stupid.
Thanks guys for reading this. I agree with you guys though. To have your own views on something is one thing, but to hinder other people with your views is what really bothers me..
I just cant believe they wouldnt take her 2 walmart for medicine still. I'd b outraged. Thats unforgiveable. Trust me the walmart corp doesnt miss their buissness & would never know if they drove into their parkinglot. LMAO!
I like reading the journals & i keep them saved 4 a wk 2 c if responces were given back 2 what i said or if neboddy else said something.
I let my DH read this & he agreed wit me, if this was our kid we would have sent him into a world of guilt over it.
I hope he realizes ur mother is not young & there will b a time she wont b around anymore & he needs 2 enjoy visits with her while he can (even if shes young, my moms 57 for example) cuz even if she lives till shes 100 when she finally hits 100 & passes its not gonna feel like enough time even if u visit everyday.
Ugh just selfishness.
My husband said the same thing. He said if it was our boys he would have told them to get their stuff and get the hell out. Seriously though its just really dissapointing because hes never been this way. Its quite baffeling actually. The only thhing that has changed is his new wife. So im kinda guessing maybe that has something to do with it. (I hate to point fingers but its all I can come up with). Either that or hes just been where he is for way to long now. Not sure. But your right hes become so selfish its rather disgusting.
