RUDYARD - Authorities have identified the toddler killed by a freight train in northern Montana as 3 1/2-year-old Colby Cole Hawley.
Rlynn Rockman, owner of the Rockman Funeral Home in Chester, said the toddler was staying with relatives who live in the Rudyard area near the railroad tracks and playing outside at the time of the accident.
Gus Melonas of Burlington Northern Santa Fe said the train crew spotted the boy standing on the tracks Saturday morning and immediately threw the emergency brake and sounded a whistle.
Melonas said BNSF officials, the Montana Highway Patrol and Hill County authorities were all investigating the incident.
I am asking where were the adults ...did they not hear the train blowing the horn????
