Something really resonated with me today and I really wanted to share it with everyone. My 6 year old walked in the door from school today and said she was setting up a table and chair outside and opening a business doing nails today. She has played store in the house and painted her nails once in a while but never has this 6 year old ran a business before. She always has watched and learned to do things quite quickly but she certainly learns by doing the task herself. So as the hour progressed, i watched from my front window as she set up a table and chair, put out all her nail polishes and came in and proceeded to make signs that her store was open from 4 - 4:30. Itwas .50cents for nails and .50cents to do make up.

This whole time I was thinking to myself, how am I going to break it to my 6 yr old that no one is going to want to get their nails painted in the driveway of a house, not to mention a by a 6yr old.
So she sat and sat and sat. Finally a lady walking down the street came by and Mya asked her if she wanted to get her nails done. And to my surprise she said yes. The smile that came across her face was priceless. The confidence this child exuded as she asked the lady to pick her colour and talked with her, was inspiring. Mya went on her way to paint each nail professionally and to her very best. She told the lady after she completed that it was .50 cents and collected for her services rendered. As I watched as a very proud Mom, a lesson was taught to me today. That 6 year old taught me a life lesson in a matter of 60mins. Believe in yourself, be confident and go after what you truly want in life.
Take a look at the sign she made for her store and you will see.

Today I watched a 6 year old entrepreneur smile from ear to ear because she accomplished what she said she was going to do. Paint someones nails. And Boy she did. That lady is going to come back whenever she sees Mya out there with her table and her sign that says open. And Mya confidently replied "See you tomorrow"

In the grand scheme of all that I learned, Mya is now donating her Monies to her Uncle Steve's 650 mile Ride from Peterborough Ontario Canada to Long Island New York. She told her next customer that she was giving the Money to her Uncle for his big bike ride for his charity. She too believes in him, as she believes in herself. At the end of the day Mya raised $5.50. She is so very Proud.

Today I believe

Check this out, funny how a 6 year already knows these principales
